영문 초록

Jang Hyenkwang expressed his philosophic thoughts by poets, an d on the other hand his feelings by logical sentences. He regarded Yukgyeng(六經) and Seonggyeng Hyenjeon(聖經寶傳) as the ideal model of the literature. He called it "經天緯之文" But "文" does not mean literature or sentence but' ancient documents' - these contain the immutable truths. And the word of '古文' used in his works m eans the documents written by 周子，程子，張子and 朱子。 He advocated the correspondence between Dotong(道統) and Mutong(文統). Jang Hyenkwang thought that literature should be significant of author's personality. So to speak, Confucian literary theory colored hi s literary theory. Jang Hyenkwang used to go on a sightseeing tour to valleys and mountains [溪山風流] . The representative spot was all over Bujiam (不知巖) and lbam(立巖). During the reign of King Kwanghae(光海君), Jang Hyenkwang composed some poems which expressed the stage of Muwi(無爲) and Musim( 無心), and his intention of retirement from the world against the political situation in utter confusion. When he was 43 years old (15%), He retired from the world and went into ibam And he built ibamjeongsa(立巖精舍) in 1607. In that place, he taught students and mapped out the scheme of the cosmos based on the Book of Chang es [周易] in a leisurely way. Ibam and its outskirts of 28 beauty s pots were the training space of mind and study as well as the creating space of literature and art. He admitted the utility of literature limitedly, but he didn't think the versification negatively. He regarded the enjoyment and creation.
