영문 초록

This study investigated the relations among fathers' rearing involvement, parenting stress and children's social competence. Subjects of the study included 240 young children aged three to five attending a kindergarten in Jeju Island, as well as their fathers. Questionnaires were used in order to survey fathers' rearing involvement, parenting stress and children's social competence. Fathers' rearing involvement marked in the middle or slightly high level in general and fathers' rearing stress was generally moderate or slightly low. Children's social competence was in the intermediate to high level. There were negative correlations between father's rearing involvement and parenting stress and between parenting stress and children's social competence. Fathers' rearing involvement was positively correlated with children's social competence.
