국문 초록

본 연구는 현재 진행되고 있는 고교학점제에 대한 논의가 제2차 교육과정에서 도입된 단위제와 유사하다는 문제의식을 바탕으로 단위제와 학점제의 차이점이 무엇인지를 분명히 규명하기 위한 목적으로 시작되었다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 고등학교 교과목 및 수업의 조직단위이자 학사관리의 기본구조인 단위제와 학점제의 관계를 규명하고, 교육과정의 역사 속에서 단위제 및 학점제가 본래의 의미와는 다른 의미로 이해되어 학교에서 변형되고 있음을 밝히고자 노력하였다. 그 결과 제2차 교육과정에서 처음 도입된 단위제가 학년제로, 학점제가 단위제로의 의미로 사용되고 있음을 확인하였으며, 단위제 변주의 원인으로 예외규정이 원칙으로 둔갑, 학점제 변주의 원인으로 교육부의 고교학점제 연구 선도학교 운영 계획, 성과보고회 및 국가 교육과정의 구조 등을 밝혔다. 마지막으로 학점제와 관련하여 또 다른 정책의 재등장이 예상되며, 이를 준비하기 위해 학습 성과 관리라는 질적요소에 대한 논의가 필요함을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

This study was initiated based on the recognition that the policy of the ongoing high school credit system is very similar to the unit system introduced in the Second National Curriculum. The purpose of the study is to clearly delineate the differences between the unit system and the credit system as organizing high school subjects and classes and structures of academic management by examining their relationship. The research also aimed to clarify how the unit system and credit system have been understood and utilized in schools in a different context from their original meanings throughout the educational history. As a result, it was confirmed that the unit system, initially introduced in the Second National Curriculum, is being used as a grade system, while the credit system is employed with the original meaning of the unit system. The study revealed that exceptions posing as rules were identified as the cause of variations in the unit system, and the Ministry of Education's research on high school credit systems and the structure of the National curriculum were highlighted as factors contributing to variations in the credit system. Finally, the study anticipates the reappearance of another policy related to the credit system, suggesting the need for discussions on qualitative elements related to learning outcomes management to prepare for such changes.
