국문 초록

위기청소년은 세계 각국과 국제기구에서 관심을 가져온 정책 대상 인구집단이자, 수많은 연구자가 관심을 갖고 연구해 온 청소년연구의 주제이다. 이 연구에서는 비교연구방법을 활용하여 사회문화적 맥락이 상이한 한국과 미국에서 위기청소년 진로개발을 위한 교육 시스템을 비교 분석하였다. 논문과 정책자료 등에서 드러난 한국과 미국의 위기청소년은 누구이고, 이들의 진로개발을 위한 교육 시스템은 어떻게 구성되어 운영되었는지에 관해 비교적 관점으로 유사점 및 대조점을 도출하고 그에 따른 시사점을 논의하였다. 연구를 통해 두 나라의 위기청소년에 대한 담론, 진로개발 교육의 대상으로 위기청소년의 특성, 위기청소년 진로개발을 위한 교육 시스템의 요소에서 유사성과 차별성이 존재하며, 이는 각국의 사회문화적인 배경에 기인한 것으로 위기청소년의 지원에서 보편적인 측면과 맥락적인 측면이 균형 있게 고려되어야 함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

Youth at risk represent a population group of policy interest across nations and international organizations and have been a focal point of numerous researchers within the field of youth studies. This research utilized a comparative study methodology to analyze and compare the educational systems designed for the career development of youth at risk within the distinct sociocultural contexts of Korea and the United States. By examining academic papers and policy documents, this study identifies who the youth at risk are in Korea and the United States, how their educational systems for career development are structured and operated, and draws comparative insights into the similarities and contrasts between these systems. Through this research, it was revealed that there are both similarities and differences in the discourse on youth at risk, the characteristics of youth at risk as targets of education for career development, and the elements of the educational systems for their career development, which are attributable to the sociocultural backgrounds of each country. This suggests that support for youth at risk should consider both universal and contextual aspects in a balanced manner.
