국문 초록

본 연구는 유아의 의도적 통제와 밀접한 관련이 있는 것으로 알려진 어머니의 정서적 사회적 특성을 중심으로 유아의 기질적, 행동적 의도적 통제에 어머니의 우울과 정서적 표현을 통해 간접적으로 영향을 미치는 정도를 살펴보았다. 연구 결과 첫째, 어머니의 의도적 통제는 어머니의 우울을 통해 미취학 아동의 지연기능(hot과제)과 주의기능(cool과제)에 유의하고 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났습니다. 둘째, 어머니의 의도적 통제는 유아의 기질적, 행동적 통제에 유의하고 긍정적으로 영향을 미쳤습니다. 이 연구 결과는 유아들의 의도적 통제를 강화하기 위한 어머니의 정서적, 인지적 조정의 중요성과 어머니의 행동과 특성이 유아의 기질적 그리고 행동적 의도적 통제의 두 가지 하위 영역에 어떻게 다르게 영향을 미치는지 이해하는 영역별 메커니즘의 중요성을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study explores how mothers’ effortful control influences to preschoolers’ temperamental and behavioral effortful control indirectly through mothers’ depression and emotional expression. This study focused on “ mothers’ socio-emotional characteristics” which are known to be closely associated with children’s effortful control. The major results of the study are as follow. Firstly, mothers’ effortful control significantly and negatively influenced preschoolers’ delayed function (hot task) and attention function (cool task) through mothers’ depression. Second, mothers’ effortful control significantly and positively influenced preschoolers’ temperamental effortful control. The findings of the study provided that highlight the importance of mothers’ emotional and cognitive adjustment to enhance children’s effortful control and emphasizes the need to understand the domain-specific mechanisms how mothers' behaviors and characteristics differentially influence children’s temperamental and two sub domains of behavioral effortful control.
