초고령 노부모를 부양하는 노인 자녀의 경험 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 초고령 노부모를 부양하는 노인 자녀의 경험을 탐색함으로써 노노(老老)부양 노인 및 가족에 대한 이해를 풍부하게 하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 일반적 연구방법을 활용하였으며, 연구 참여자는 초고령 노부모를 부양하고 있는 65세 이상 노인 6명이었다. 자료는 심층면접으로 수집되었으며 주제분석을 통해 15개의 하위 주제와 5개의 주제를 도출하였다. 연구결과, 노인 자녀의 노부모 부양 계기는 자식으로서의 도리와 의무감이었으며, 부양 과정에서 신체적, 심리적, 재정적으로 어려움을 경험하고 있었다. 또한 참여자들은 가족 내에서 부양으로 인한 갈등을 겪고 있었으나, 노부모를 돌보며 심리적 만족감, 가족관계 증진 등의 긍정적인 인식을 갖기도 하였다. 참여자들은 노인부양이 가족의 책임이라는 전통적 태도를 지니고 있었으나 한편으로는 사회적 지원이 필요한 문제로도 인식하고 있었다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 초고령 노인을 부양하는 노인 자녀 및 노년기 부양가족을 위한 실천적, 정책적 제언을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to enrich our understanding of the elderly and their families who caring for their oldest old parents by exploring the experiences of older children who care their parents. For this purpose, generic qualitative research was used. Research Participants were six elderly people aged 65 who caring for their oldest old parents. Data were collected Data were using in-depth interviews, and 15 sub-themes and 5 themes were derived through thematic analysis method. As a result of the study, the participants were basically caring for their elderly parents out of a sense of duty as children, and were experiencing physical, psycho-emotional, and relational difficulties in the process of caring for them. In particular, it was found that families are experiencing various conflicts surrounding the care of elderly parents. Participants had the traditional attitude that caring for the elderly was the responsibility of the family, but they also recognized it as a problem that required social support. Based on these findings, practical and policy implications were presented for the elderly caregiver and fimily who caring for the oldest old parents.
