정의지향적 다문화교사교육과정의 내용체계 탐구

국문 초록

본 연구는 비판적 혹은 사회정의 관점을 충실히 반영하면서도 한국 사회 맥락에 적합한 다문화교사교육과정의 내용체계를 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 사회정의, 사회정의를 위한 교육, 다문화교육의 개념적 관계에 대한 이론적 고찰을 바탕으로 ‘정의지향적 다문화교육(justice-oriented multicultural education)’을 개념화하였으며, InTASC(Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium)에서 제시한 교사전문성의 세 영역(지식, 실행, 성향)을 기반으로 정의지향적 다문화교사교육과정의 학문적, 문화적, 사회정치적 목적을 달성하기 위한 구체적인 내용들을 제시하였다. 마지막으로 본 연구에서 제안한 정의지향적 다문화교사교육과정을 타당성, 현실성, 실용성, 적합성이라는 네 가지 측면에서 평가하였다. 본 연구에서 제안한 정의지향적 다문화교사교육과정의 내용체계는 향후 다문화교사교육과정 성취기준을 개발하고 평가하는 데 유용한 틀을 제공할 것이다.

영문 초록

This study aims to define the curriculum content for a multicultural teacher education that is both responsive to a social justice perspective and relevant to the context of South Korea. Based on a theoretical relationship among social justice, teaching for social justice, and multicultural education, the author conceptualized a justice-oriented multicultural education. By combining this justice-oriented multicultural education concept with three areas of the teaching profession presented in the Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC), knowledge, performance, and disposition, the author designed curriculum content that helps teachers and teacher educators better achieve academic, cultural, and social/political goals. The author also discussed the suggested curriculum content with a focus on its validity, reality, practicality, and relevancy. The suggested curriculum content will provide a useful tool for developing and evaluating further standards for multicultural teacher education.
