청소년의 학업성취에 영향을 미치는 요인들의 구조적 관계: 이주배경여부에 따른 차이를 중심으로

국문 초록

이 연구는 청소년의 학업성취에 영향을 미치는 요인들의 구조적 관계를 살펴보고 이주배경 여부에 따른 두 집단 간 차이를 확인하는 것이 목적이다. 다문화청소년 패널 자료와 한국아동·청소년 패널 자료 중학교 3학년 공통 문항과 척도를 추출하여 구조방정식 모형 분석(SEM)과 다집단 분석을 실시하였다. 청소년의 학업성취에 대한 구조방정식 모형 분석 결과, 학업성취에 가장 큰 영향을 주는 변인은 학교적응이며 학교적응에 강한 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 변인은 부모의 관심으로 나타났다. 또한 부모의 관심은 자녀의 사회적 위축을 줄여주는 것으로 확인되었다. 다집단 분석 결과, 두 집단 간 차이를 확인할 수 있는 경로는 사회적 위축이 학업성취에 이르는 경로였다. 이주배경가정 학생집단이 비이주배경가정 학생집단 보다 상대적으로 부모의 사회경제적 지위가 낮다는 교육적 취약점을 확인할 수 있었으나 두 집단 간 통계적으로 유의한 교육격차는 보이지 않았다. 따라서 이주배경가정 부모의 사회경제적 지위의 차이를 다소 완화시켜줄 수 있는 부모교육의 제도적인 확대와 지속적이고 실천적인 방안을 모색하고 전체 학생을 대상으로 하는 인식개선 프로그램의 확대, 교사의 다문화적 역량 강화 등의 노력이 더 해져야 할 것이다. 이 연구는 동일 시점, 동일 학교급의 이주배경가정 학생과 비이주배경 학생의 대규모 양적자료를 바탕으로 두 집단의 차이를 실증적으로 분석했다는데 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The study aims to analyze the structural relationships of factors affecting the academic achievement of young people and to identify differences between the two groups depending on whether they are immigrant or not. MAPS and KCYPS extracted common questions and scales of third grade middle school students to conduct structural equation model analysis (SEM) and multi-group analysis. An analysis of structural equation models on adolescents’ academic achievement showed that the biggest influence on academic achievement is school adaptation, and the strongest positive influence on school adaptation is parents’ attention. Also, parents’ attention has been found to reduce their children’s social shrinkage. According to the multi-group analysis, the way to identify the difference between the two groups was through which social contraction led to academic achievement. Although we could identify that immigrant background groups have relatively lower socioeconomic status than non-immigrant background groups, there was no statistically significant educational gap between the two groups. The study is meaningful in that it empirically analyzed the differences between the two groups based on the massive quantitative data of students from an immigrant background and non-immigrant background.
