영문 초록

Background: In order to increase job satisfaction and improve the quality level, it is necessary to establish a correct professional image, and accordingly, it is necessary to properly grasp the image of male dental hygienists, which is recently increasing. In this study, the image level of male dental hygienists according to general characteristics was identified, and the image of male dental hygienists was compared with the images of dental hygienists and males to identify more accurate image levels of male dental hygienists. Methods: The study conducted a total of 290 questionnaires to dental workers, including students, and ordinary people with experience in dental treatment within 3 years through self-reported questionnaires. Statistical methods were frequency analysis and mean comparison (t-test, ANOVA). Results: The average score of the image for male dentists was 3.3 out of 5. The image of male dental hygienists according to general characteristics was statistically higher for men in gender and the public in occupation. The average score of the image of the dental hygienist was 3.4 points, and the average score of the image for the male was 2.8 points. As a result of comparing and analyzing them with the image of a male dental hygienist, it was recognized higher than the image of a male and lower than the image of a dental hygienist, which showed a statistically significant difference. Conclusion: The average score of the male dental hygienist image was found to be slightly less than the average score of the dental hygienist image, and in detail, male dental hygienists tended to recognize the image as having less income than other occupations and not working for life. Therefore, it will need that active efforts such as public relations and education are needed in relation to the establishment of a desirable image of male dental hygienists in the future.
