영문 초록

Psychological research and psychologists are so deeply invested in a statistical mode of thinking that the human aspects of research are virtually ignored. Statistics catalogues events, not processes, force-fitting them into mathematics. The following essay shows that the data of consciousness is more deeply descriptive of people than data of sense. Our cognitive structure is an example of data of consciousness. Since our cognitive structure includes the scientific paradigm as one of its operational levels, survey analysis is kept in perspective. The study, properly placed in the larger human scheme, is much smaller and less interesting than commonly ascribed. Contained within this examination is a vocabulary and meaning system for doing research that more fully describes the human condition, thus provides practitioners and clients better methods of healing.
