시각장애성인의 생애주기별 사회활동 및 문화⋅여가활동 실태

국문 초록

연구 목적: 이 연구는 시각장애성인의 생애주기별 사회활동 및 문화⋅여가활동 실태를 파악하고, 시각장애성인의 생애주기별 사회생활 및 문화⋅여가생활을 지원하기 위한 정책 및 실천적 방안을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구 방법: 연구를 위해 「2020년 장애인 실태조사」의 원 데이터에서 25세 이상의 시각장애성인 658명의 데이터를 추출하고, 이를 다시 성인 전기, 중년기, 노년기로 구분하여 시각장애성인의 생애주기별 사회활동 및 문화⋅여가활동 실태를 분석하였다. 연구 결과: 첫째, 노년기 시각장애인 10명 중 2명은 혼자 외출이 어렵고, 외출 빈도도 낮았다. 성인 전기의 경우 20.0%, 중년기의 경우 38.9%, 노년기의 경우 53.7%가 집 밖 활동 시 불편함을 느끼고 있으며, 주로 동반자가 없어서 혹은 편의시설 부족 때문인 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 시각장애성인의 문화⋅여가활동 참여 수준이 매우 미흡하였으며, 성인 전기 시각장애인의 경우 중년기와 노년기에 비해 문화예술행사 관람 경험이 다소 높았으나 비장애인에 비해 낮은 관람률을 보였다. 문화 및 여가활동에 대해 만족스럽게 생각하는 시각장애인은 성인 전기의 경우 50.0%, 중년기의 경우 55.1%, 노년기의 경우 47.5%로 나타났다. 결론: 연구 결과를 토대로 시각장애성인의 생애주기별 사회활동과 문화⋅여가활동 활성화를 위한 정책 및 실천적 노력의 방향을 논의하고 제언하였다.

영문 초록

Purpose: The present study intends to understand the social activities, and cultural and leisure activities of adults with visual impairments according to their life cycle, and to seek policy and practical measures to provide support for their social, cultural, and leisure activities by life cycle. Method: To this end, the author collected data from 658 adults with visual impairments aged 25 and older from the original data of the "2020 Survey on the Current Status of People with Disabilities." Then the gathered data were categorized into the three life cycle stages of early adulthood, middle age, and senior age, and the current status of social, cultural, and leisure activities of adults with visual impairments was then analyzed according to the life cycle stage. Results: First, the research found that two out of ten visually impaired elderly found it difficult to go out alone, and that they went out less frequently. 20 percent of those in early adulthood, 38.9 percent of those in middle age, and 53.7 percent of those in old age experienced difficulty in doing outdoor activities. Second, adults with visual impairments participated less in cultural and leisure activities significantly. Visually impaired people in early adulthood had slightly more experiences in joining cultural and art events compared with those in middle age and elderly. However, their view rate was lower than non-adults with disabilities. Visually impaired people who were content with cultural and leisure activities accounted for 50.0% in early adulthood, 55.1% in middle age, and 47.5% in old age, respectively. Conclusion: Based on these results, the author discussed and suggested the direction of policies and practical efforts intended to promote social activities, cultural and leisure activities of adults with visual impairments according to their life cycle.
