청년층 직업계고 졸업자의 경력경로 형성 경험과 특성

국문 초록

이 연구는 직업계고 졸업자의 경력경로 형성 경험과 특성을 분석하고, 이를 토대로 직업계고 졸업자의 경력경로 형성 과정을 탐색하기 위해 수행되었다. 이를 위해 직업계고 졸업자 20명을 대상으로 면담 조사를 실시하고 수집된 자료를 분석하여 6개 범주, 20개 주제와 59개의 하위 주제를 도출했다. 6개 범주는 직업계고 졸업자들이 경력경로 형성 과정에서 겪는 경험적 특성 3개 범주(① 직업계고 진학과 취업, ② 직장생활과 일 경험, ③ 경력개발 경험)와 경력경로 형성 과정 전반에 걸쳐 영향을 미친 맥락적 특성 3개 범주(① 개인적 차원, ② 사회적 차원, ③ 사회제도적 차원)로 구성되었다. 직업계고 졸업자의 경력경로는 개인이 직업과 관련해 어떤 경험을 하느냐에 따라 달라지는 것으로 나타났으며, 직장생활 및 일 경험과 개인의 경력개발 경험이 상호작용하며 개인의 경력경로를 형성하고 있었다. 또한 직업계고 졸업자의 경력목표와 이들을 둘러싼 가정, 학교, 기업 등의 사회적 맥락, 정부의 취업 지원 및 선취업 후학습 정책 등이 직업계고 졸업자의 경력경로 형성에 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 연구 결과는 직업계고 졸업자의 노동시장 안착과 경력개발 활성화를 위해 맞춤형 취업 지원과 후학습 프로그램의 질 제고 등이 필요함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to analyze the career path-related experiences and characteristics of vocational high school graduates and to explore the forming process of career paths. To this end, we interviewed 20 vocational high school graduates and drew six categories, 20 themes, and 59 sub-themes. The six categories consist of three for experiential characteristics(entrance to vocational high school and employment, work-life experience, career development experience) experienced by vocational high school graduates in the career path and three for contextual characteristics(individual level, social level, societal level) that influenced the entire career path. We found that the career path of vocational high school graduates differs depending on what kind of experience the individual has with the job, and the work experience and career development experience interact to form the individual's career path. In addition, the career goals, the social context surrounding them, such as home, school, and companies, and the government's employment support and "work first-then to college" policies affect the career path of vocational high school graduates. These results suggest that customized employment support and quality improvement of "work first-then to college" programs are necessary for vocational high school graduates to settle in the labor market and promote career development.
