자기주도적 영어토론학습의 효과에 대한 대학생들의 인식

국문 초록

최근 토론교육은 교육자들에 의해 4차 산업시대의 흐름에 적합한 교육방법으로 간주되어 많은 관심을 받아왔다. 이러한 배경에서 이 연구의 목적은 자기주도적 영어토론교육이 대학생에게 지식정보처리 활동 역량, 공동체 활동 역량에 어떠한 인식을 가져오게 하였는지 알아보고, 각각의 세부 활동 영역의 향상에 대해서는 어떠한 인식의 차이가 있었는지 살펴보는데 있다. 이 연구는 33명의 대학생들에게 개개인의 역량에 맞는 수준별 학습과 자기 주도적 학습이 가능하도록 하는 자기주도형 영어토론 수업을 45시간 실시하고, 수업진행 후 이 교육방법이 자신들의 지식정보처리 활동 능력, 공동체 활동 능력에 어떠한 향상을 주었는지에 대해 5점 리커트 척도로 설문조사하였다. 그 응답결과 자료를 기반으로 각 역량 영역의 세부 활동 간 차이에 대해 일원변량분석과 사후 다중 비교 검정을 하였다. 그 결과, 자기주도적 영어토론학습은 지식정보 처리활동 역량의 향상에 도움을 주며, 4개의 하위 활동 역량에 대해 고른 향상을 주었으며, 또한 공동체 활동 역량 향상에도 도움을 주며, 이러한 향상은 협동역량과 페어플레이 활동 역량에서 가장 높게, 그리고 타협 활동 역량, 협상 활동 역량 순으로 높게 수업 참가자들이 인식하고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

The prospect of the forthcoming age of the 4th Industrial Revolution calls for learners with great autonomy and creativity in milieu of unlimited potential of maximal mutual connectedness. Self-regulated learning is a good strategy for promoting such learners. The purpose of this study is to show the effects of self-regulated English debate learning for college students on their perception of knowledge information processing and community competences. Thirty three undergraduate students took part in the differential small group self-regulated English debate learning for 45 hours. After the whole sessions was administered a five point Likert scale survey on the students’ perception of improvement in their knowledge information processing and community competences attributed to their own learning experience. All the means over 4.0 of competence improvement scores showed that the learning experience helped improve 4 knowledge information processing competences including data collection, summary, consolidation, and application as well as community competences including cooperation, negotiation, compromise and fair play. And ANOVA of the differences among improvements in competence factors of knowledge information processing showed no significant main effect, while that in community related competence factors confirmed that improvements in cooperation and fair play were significantly higher than that in negotiation, which was significantly higher than compromise.
