Paley의 ‘따돌림 없는 교실’ 독후 활동을 통한 예비유아교사의 경험

국문 초록

본 연구는 Paley(1992/2014)의 ‘따돌림 없는 교실’을 읽고 독후 활동을 해보며, 양성기관에서 따돌림과 관련하여 예비유아교사를 교육하는 데 기초자료를 제공하는 것에 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 유아교육과 2학년 학생 38명이 독후 활동을 하고 작성한 저널을 수집하여 분석하였다. 연구결과 학생들은 첫째, 학생들은 학창 시절 직ㆍ간접적으로 경험한 따돌림에 대해 회상하며 피해자로서 상처 난 마음을 치유하거나 혹은 가해자ㆍ방관자로서 살았던 삶을 반성하였다. 둘째, 학생들은 ‘따돌림’에 대해 고찰하는 모습을 보였다. 즉, 따돌림에 대해 진지하게 고민하며, 따돌림과 관련한 교육을 어릴 적부터 적절하게 교육되어야 하고, 따돌림을 받을 특별한 이유가 있는 것이 아니며, 피해자와 가해자의 견해를 들어볼 필요가 있고, 교사의 역할이 중요하다고 생각하게 되었다. 셋째, 학생들은 저자가 학생을 대하는 태도적인 측면과 따돌림을 해결하기 위해 저자가 활용하였던 창작 동화 만들기ㆍ토론하기ㆍ공개적으로 이야기하기와 같은 방법적인 측면 등 두 가지 측면에서 지도 방법을 고찰하는 모습을 보였다. 이를 통해 학생들이 추후 유아 교사로서 따돌림을 지도하는 방법에 대해 성찰해보고, 양성기관에서 예비유아교사에게 따돌림 교육을 어떻게 효과적으로 할 것인지 탐구해보았다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for educating pre-service early childhood teachers in relation to bullying in training institutions by reading ‘You can’t say you can’t play’ and doing post-reading activities. To this end, 38 students of the Department of Early Childhood Education collected and analyzed journals written after reading activities. As a result of the study, students first recalled the bullying they experienced directly and indirectly during their school days, healed their wounded hearts as victims, or reflected on their lives as perpetrators and bystanders. Second, students reflected on ‘bullying’. In other words, students were made to consider bullying. In addition, students came to think that they should be properly educated from an early age and that there was no special reason to be bullied. And students thought that they should listen to the views of victims and perpetrators, and that the role of teachers was important. Third, the students showed the attitude of the author towards the students and the methodological aspects such as making creative fairy tales, discussing, and talking openly that the author used to solve bullying. Through this, it is meaningful in that students reflect on how to teach bullying as future early childhood teachers and explore how to effectively provide preservice early childhood teachers with bullying education in training institutions.
