국문 초록

본 연구에서는 싱가포르 지리교육과정의 내용과 특색을 중등학교와 후기중등학교를 중심으로 분석하였다. 싱가포르 지리교육과정의 교육목표 중 지식과 이해는 자연지리, 인문지리의 내용을 중심으로, 기능은 탐구기반 지리조사를 강조하는 자료의 조사, 분석, 해석, 추론하기를 중점적으로 구성되어 있다. 그리고 가치와 태도는 자연환경의 보호, 감성, 책임감, 도덕성, 참여 등을 강조하였다. 싱가포르 지리교육과정은 핵심 지리개념을 공간, 장소, 스케일, 환경으로 제시하고, 이 개념들을 자연과 인문 과정, 환경 다양성과 문화 다양성, 상호의존, 체계로 심화시키고 있다. 지리교육과정은 공간과 장소를 다중스케일 측면에서 살펴보고, 여기에 존재하는 자연적, 인문적 다양성을 존중하고, 이들이 만들어지는 과정, 더 나아가 이 모든 것들이 하나의 체계 속에서 상호의존하고 있음을 인식하도록 구성하고 있다. 싱가포르 지리교육과정의 주요 주제는 자연지리, 인문지리와 지리조사로 조직되어 있다. 전반적으로 지리교육과정은 지속가능성이라는 화두를 중심으로 싱가포르의 자연환경과 인문환경의 인식을 강조하고 있다. 또한 싱가포르 지리교육과정은 지속가능발전을 생태주의의 핵심내용으로 제시한 후, 학생들을 환경정의를 삶 속에서 실천하는 미래시민으로 기르고자 하고 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the contents and characters of secondary and post-secondary geography curriculum in Singapore. An education objectives of geography curriculum are consisted with knowledge and understanding, skills, and value and attitude. Knowledge and understanding of geography curriculum are mainly organised with physical and human geography. In skills inquiry of geography especially based on investigation, analysis, interpretation, inference etc. is emphasized. And in value and attitude conservation of natural environment, feeling, responsibility, morality, participation etc. are emphasized. Singapore geography curriculum has key geographical concepts, based on space, place, scale, environment in secondary, and then deepen to physical and human processes, environment and cultural diversity, interdependence, and system in upper secondary and post-secondary. Singapore geography curriculum emphasizes that it intends for students to view space and place with multi-scaling firstly, and then to respect physical and human diversity in there, and investigate the process of physical and human phenomena, and to consider their interdependence in system. Themes of geography curriculum are consisted of physical geography, human geography and geographical investigations. Mostly Singapore geography curriculum emphasizes physical and human environment with sustainability which based on eco-centrism and sustainable development. And geography curriculum is to develop future citizens for environmental justice.
