국문 초록

코로나 19로 인한 펜데믹으로 공교육 및 평생교육기관이 전면 또는 부분적 폐쇄되어 성인발달장애인의 평생학습이 중단(中斷)되는 상황이 발생되었으며, 평생교육서비스에 의존이 높았던 성인발달장애인은 지금껏 경험하지 못한 어려움에 직면하였다. 본 연구에서는 이번 평생학습 중단이 성인발달장애인들에게 어떠한 영향을 미치고 있는지 알아보고, 이를 통해 성인발달장애인에게 평생학습이 갖는 중요성과 의미는 무엇인지 답하고자 하였다. 성인발달장애인들은 평생학습이 중단되면서 퇴행 및 도전적 행동 증가되는 등의 어려움을 경험하고 있었다. 20~30대 성인발달장애인들은 자립에 대한 본격적인 준비와 시도가 중단되면서 사회적 기술, 일상생활훈련 등에 대한 소실과 퇴행으로 희망을 잃어버리는 막막함을 경험하였다. 기관이 아닌 가정에서 이루어지는 학습에는 한계가 있었으며, 성인발달장애인들은 기관을 통해 이루어졌던 사회적 활동 및 사람들과의 관계를 그리워하고 있었다. 성인발달장애인에게 평생학습은 단순한 학습의 의미를 넘어 인간다운 삶의 유지와 사회참여의 통로가 되며 사회와 통합될 수 있는 유일한 기회였던 것이다. 성인발달장애인에게 평생배움인 평생학습의 기회가 주어지지 않는 다는 것은 이들 삶의 숨통이 막히는 것과 같은 것으로 평생학습이 중단되어 나타나는 결과로 확인할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

In this study, the purpose of this study was to find out how the suspension of lifelong learning had an effect on adults with developmental disabilities, and to answer the significance and meaning of lifelong learning for adults with developmental disabilities. Adults with developmental disabilities in their 20s and 30s experienced the dilemma of losing hope due to the loss and regression of social skills and daily life training as full-scale preparations and attempts for self-reliance were stopped. There was a limit to learning that took place at home rather than in an institution, and adults with developmental disabilities missed social activities and relationships with people through institutions. For adults with developmental disabilities, lifelong learning went beyond the meaning of simple education, and became a channel for maintaining a humanlike life and participating in society. the lack of opportunities for lifelong learning which is lifelongeruditio for adults with developmental disabilities equals to suffocating their lives and it was confirmed as a result of the interrupting of lifelong learning.
