성폭력 피해 경험자의 외상 후 성장에 대한 현상학적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 성폭력 피해 경험자의 외상 후 성장에 대한 성장 과정과 성장요인을 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 D시에 거주하는 8명의 성폭력 피해 경험자가 연구에 참여하였고, 자료수집은 2021년 7월부터 9월까지 이루어졌다. 자료분석은 연구 참여자와의 면담 축어록과 비언어적 특성에 대한 현장노트 그리고 연구자의 생각이나 느낌을 기록한 관찰일지를 바탕으로 이루어졌으며, 현상학적 연구 방법인 Colaizzi 분석 방법을 활용하였다. 성폭력 피해 경험자의 외상 후 성장 과정에 대해 분석한 결과, 316개의 의미 있는 문장이 추출되었다. 추출된 문장은 다시 60개의 구성의미와 12개의 주제, 6개의 주제군, 3개의 범주로 분류되었다. 3개의 범주 중, 성장 이전의 삶 범주는 ‘피해로 인한 두려움’과 ‘가해자에 대한 복잡한 심경’, ‘피해에 대한 자기원망’과 ‘회피하고 싶은 고통’이 포함되었다. 성장 이후의 삶 범주는 ‘피해에 대한 재해석’과 ‘삶의 의미 발견’, ‘피해자에 대한 공감’과 ‘대인관계의 성숙’이 포함되었다. 마지막으로 성장 범주에는 개인적 요인으로 ‘자신을 이해하고 가치를 발견’과 ‘사건의 객관화’가 포함되었고, 환경적 요인으로 ‘타인의지지’와 ‘사회적지지’가 포함되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 성폭력 피해 경험자의 고통을 이해하고 외상 후 성장을 위한 개인적 요인과 환경적 요인의 증진을 통해 효과적인 심리치료와 실천적 지원방안의 필요성을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to explore the post-traumatic growth process and growth factors of sexual violence victims. Participants of the study were eight sexual violence victims living in D city. Data were collected from individual interviews from July to September 2021. Data analysis was based on interviews with research participants, field notes on non-verbal characteristics, and observation journals recording the researchers′ thoughts or feelings. The Colaizzi analysis method, a phenomenological research method, was applied. As a result of analyzing the post-traumatic growth process of sexual violence victims, 316 meaningful sentences were extracted. The extracted sentences were again classified into 60 constituent meanings and 12 themes, six thematic groups, and three categorizations. Among the three categories, The life before growth category included ‘fear due to damage,’ ‘complex feelings toward the perpetrator,’ ‘self-dissent for damage,’ and ‘pain to avoid.’ The life after growth category included ‘reinterpretation of damage,’ ‘discovery of the meaning of life,’ ‘sympathy for victims,’ and ‘mature interpersonal relationships.’ The growth category included ‘understanding oneself and discovering value,’ ‘objectification of events’ as personal factors, and ‘support from others,’ ‘social support’ as environmental factors. The results of this study suggest the need for effective psychological therapy and practical support by understanding the pain of sexual violence victims and promoting personal and environmental factors for their post-traumatic growth.
