국문 초록

이주여성은 정부의 여러 정책과 지원에도 불구하고, 여전히 한국 이주 후 새로운 사회적 관계를 형성하는데 많은 어려움을 겪는다. 사회적 관계의 구조적 측면에 집중한 연구들과 사회적 지지체계가 이주여성의 적응에 유의미한 영향을 미치는지를 파악하는 연구들은 많았지만, 이주여성이 사회적 관계를 어떻게 형성하게 되는지 그 맥락을 살펴보는 연구는 비교적 부족하다. 따라서 본 연구는 이주여성의 새로운 사회적 관계 형성과정과 그 과정에서의 어려움 및 관계 형성이 주는 의미를 현상학적 연구를 통해 보고자 한다. 연구 결과, 15개의 의미단위와 이를 포괄하는 5개의 드러난 주제 그리고 3개의 본질적 주제로 구조화하였으며, 3개의 본질적 주제는 ‘이주여성의 사회적 관계형성 과정’, ‘이주여성의 새로운 사회적 관계 형성의 어려움’, ‘새로운 사회적 관계형성에서 겪는 양가적 심정’이다. 본 연구 결과를 통한 논의점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 지역사회 차원에서 다양한 채널을 이용하여 이주여성이 관계를 맺도록 지원할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 현 다문화수용성 증진 프로그램 및 정책의 실효성을 검토하고 선이주여성에 대한 선주민의 인식을 효과적으로 개선할 수 있는 프로그램이 마련되어야 한다. 마지막으로, 이주여성을 위한 기존 언어 프로그램의 실용성을 증진해야 한다. 본 연구는 기존의 선행연구들이 이주여성의 사회적 관계를 통한 결과적 측면 및 사회적 지지에 초점을 둔 것과 달리 새로운 사회적 관계형성 과정과 그 과정에서 파생되는 어려움의 요인 및 의미를 다루고 있다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

Despite the government's various policies and supports, immigrant women still face many difficulties in forming new social relationships after immigrating to Korea. There have been many studies focusing on the structural aspects of social relationships and figuring out the significant effect of social support on the adaptation of immigrant women. On the other hand, there were relatively few studies examining the context of how immigrant women form new social relationships. Therefore, this study aims to examine the process of forming new social relationships, difficulties in the process, and the meaning of new social relationships for immigrant women through the phenomenological method. As a result of the study, 15 semantic units, 5 revealed themes, and 3 essential themes were derived. Discussions of this study through the results are as follows. First, it is necessary to help immigrant women form new social relationships by using various channels at the community level. Second, the effectiveness of current multicultural acceptability promotion programs and policies should be reviewed and programs that can effectively improve the natives’ awareness towards immigrant women should be prepared. Lastly, the practicality of existing language programs for immigrant women should be improved. This study is significant in that it deals with the process of forming new social relationships, and the difficulties and meanings derived from the process for immigrant women.
