국문 초록

본 연구는 학부모 불만에 대한 보육교사 적응과정 경험의 의미를 심층적으로 이해하고자 하였다. 학부모 불만을 경험한 5인의 보육교사에게 심층 면담을 실시하고 Giorgi의 분석방법으로 113개의 의미단위, 13개의 주제, 6개의 중심 의미를 도출하였다. 학부모 불만에 부딪쳐 힘들어함, 학부모와 사회의 기대에 대한 부담감을 느낌, 문제 대처를 위한 자원을 동원함, 교사 자신의 심리적 요인을 알아차림, 나만의 대처 방법을 개발함, 나만의 보육교사 정체성을 찾아감의 중심 의미가 추출되었다. 보육교사들은 학부모 불만에 대한 두려움과 불안으로 힘들어하며 보육의 높은 질적 요구와 맞춤형 서비스에 대한 기대 속에서 부담감을 느끼는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 도움이 될 수 있는 멘토나 어린이집 원장과 같은 자원을 동원하기 위해 노력하고, 자신의 감정을 있는 그대로 인정하고 이러한 감정을 대하는 심리적 습관 등을 포함한 성격 특성을 스스로 알아차리는 과정을 통해 대처방법을 만들어가며 자신만의 보육교사 정체성을 찾아갔다. 본 연구결과에 근거하여 학부모 불만에 대한 보육교사의 적응을 지원하기 위한 시사점을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study identifies how Korean childcare teachers adapt to parental complaints. Five childcare teachers were chosen for data analysis using Giorgi's phenomenological methodology. Out of 13 themes, the findings identify six theme-clusters: difficulties faced because of parental complaints, childcare teachers’ identity confusion, developing resources for coping with problems, teachers' self-recognition of their psychological factors, developing one’s own coping methods, and finding one’s own identity as a childcare teacher. This study shows that childcare teachers have anxiety related to parental complaints and may be confused about their identity as childcare teachers in the context of increasingly complex parental and societal demands. However, the childcare teachers in this study had a mentor, such as a childcare center director, who could guide and help them. Furthermore, teachers adapt to parental complaints and become more aware of their own personality, including their psychological coping mechanisms. Overall, teachers are able to adapt to parental complaints and find their own identities as childcare teachers. These findings have important implications for improving childcare teachers’ adaptation to parental complaints.
