국문 초록

초등학교 경제교육은 중고등 및 대학교뿐만 아니라 성인의 경제교육에도 영향을 미친다. 그 이유는 경제교육을 처음 접하는 초등학생이 이를 단순히 암기식이 아닌 생활 일부로서 받아들인다면 어린 시절의 좋은 습관과 바람직한 가치관이 평생을 좌우할 것이기 때문이다. 따라서 초등학교 경제교육은 학문 자체에 대한 교수보다는 경제 현상에 대한 근본 원리와 상호 연관성을 깨닫게 하고 건전한 민주시민으로서 사회발전에 이바지할 수 있도록 도와주어야 할 것이다. 이런 점에서, 해방후 우리나라에서 초등학교의 경제교육이 어떻게 진행되었는지 국가 교육과정 시기별로 살펴보았다. 제1차 교육과정(1955년)부터 현행 2015 교육과정까지, 국가 교육과정에 나와 있는 사회과 교육과정 분석을 통하여 시기별 경제교육의 내용과 변천과정을 분석하였다. 그 결과, 2007 교육과정부터는 경제교육 비중이 10% 이하로 많이 낮아졌음을 알 수 있다. 오늘날 경제적인 요구와 이해관계가 더욱 커지고 있는 현실에도 불구하고 경제교육의 비중이 오히려 더 낮아졌다는 점에서는 이에 대한 근본적인 재검토가 필요한 것으로 보인다.

영문 초록

Economic education in elementary schools affects not only middle/high schools or universities, but also adults' economic education. The reason is that if elementary school students who are new to economic education accept it as part of their lives, not just memorizing, the good habits and desirable values of their childhood will determine their entire lives. Therefore, economic education in elementary schools should help them realize the fundamental principles and interrelationships of economic phenomena rather than teaching about academic knowledge and contribute to social development as sound democratic citizens. In this respect, how economic education in elementary schools was conducted in Korea after establishment of South Korea was examined by the period of the national curriculum. From the first national curriculum(1955) to the current 2015 national curriculum, the content and transition process of economic education by period were analyzed through the analysis of the social studies curriculum in the national curriculum. As a result, it can be seen that from the 2007 curriculum, the proportion of economic education has decreased significantly to less than 10%. Despite the growing economic demands and interests today, a fundamental review seems to be needed in that the proportion of economic education has rather decreased.
