교육수행어의 분류 체계 및 활용 실태 분석: 고등학교 영어 수업을 중심으로

국문 초록

근래 교육의 맥락에 관한 탐구가 진척되면서 언어를 더 이상 의미전달의 특별한 도구가 아니라 의미생성에 필요한 활동을 북돋는 기능의 관점에서 바라보기 시작하였다. 교육어는 교육의 고유한 맥락을 거점으로 활용되는 언어의 새로운 측면으로서, 교육을 이론적으로 포착하여 드러내는 교육기술어와 교육활동을 진작하는 데 사용되는 교육수행어를 통칭한다. 이 연구는 교육수행어가 실제장면에서 사용되는 양상을 살펴볼 목적에서 수행되었다. 이를 위해 교육활동의 맥락에 따른 교육수행어의 유형을 정련하고, 고등학교 영어 수업을 대상으로 그 분류체계의 적합성을 확인해 보고자 하였다. 그 결과, 이론적 분류도식에 따라 도출한 교육수행어들은 대부분 수업에서 사용하고 있었다. 사용되지 않은 교육수행어의 경우 학교의 특수한 제도적 여건과 구성원의 인식 지체 등에 원인이 있는 것으로 추정하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 교육수행어의 사용에 관한 후속연구를 통해서 좀 더 폭넓은 조사와 정밀한 분석이 필요함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

Recently, as research about the context of education develops, language has not been regarded as a special tool for conveying meanings but as means of assistance to encourage activities necessary for the creation of meanings. As a new aspect of language used in the context of education, there are two types of educational language: one is educational description language, which describes education theoretically, and the other is educational performance language, which is used to promote educational activities. This study was carried out to observe the aspect of educational performance language use in the real world. For this purpose, the study theoretically categorized the types of educational performance language in accordance with the context of educational activities, and then verified the suitability of such categorization by observing the real high school English classes. As a result, most types of educational performance language categorized theoretically in the study were observed in the classes. In the case of some unobserved ones, it was assumed that they were not used because of specific institutional conditions of school system and tardy recognition of class members about education. The result of this study suggests that a wide range of investigations and precise analyses into the use of educational performance language are necessary through follow-up studies.
