대학생용 교수-학생 상호작용의 질 척도 개발 및 타당화

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 우리나라 4년제 대학에 재학 중인 학생들을 대상으로 교수-학생 상호작용의 질을 측정하기 위한 척도를 개발하고, 이를 타당화하였다. 설문문항을 개발하기 위해 코로나19 이전부터 교수님과의 면대면 상호작용 경험이 있는 4년제 대학 재학생 21명을 대상으로 인터뷰를 실시하고 도출된 진술문과 선행연구들을 바탕으로 교수-학생 상호작용의 질 척도 예비문항들을 도출하였다. 또한 척도의 하위요인을 탐색하기 위하여 우리나라 4년제 대학생 3, 4학년 214명을 대상으로 탐색적 요인분석을 실시하였다. 탐색적 요인분석 결과 친밀감과 편안함(7문항), 관심과 이해(6문항), 지속적 관계 유지 동기(5문항), 학생중심의 교수활동(6문항), 고차원적 학업활동지원(5문항), 진로정보제공 및 지원(6문항) 총 6요인 35문항이 도출되었다. 마지막으로 도출된 교수-학생 상호작용의 질 척도 문항들이 우리나라 4년제 대학생들의 자료를 적절히 설명하는지를 확인하기 위해 전국 대학생 531명을 대상으로 확인적 요인분석을 실시하고, 소속감과의 상관분석을 통해 척도의 준거타탕도가 양호함을 확인하였다. 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 4년제 대학생들이 인식하고 있는 교수-학생 상호작용의 질에 대한 이해를 높이고 유의미한 교수-학생 상호작용을 지원하기 위한 시사점을 논하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to develop and validate the quality of the Student-Faculty Interaction Scale (SFIS) for Korean four-year college and university undergraduates. To develop items assessing students’ recognition of the quality of interaction with faculty, its potential dimensions were explored. Participants were 214 juniors and seniors who had experiences with faculty in person before the COVID-19 pandemic. Exploratory factor analysis was conducted on these students to examine underlying factors of the quality of student-faculty interaction in Korea. As a result, 35 questions for six factors were derived: intimacy and comfort (7 questions), interest and understanding (6 questions), motivation to maintain a lasting relationship (5 questions), student-centered teaching activities (6 questions), high-level academic support (5 questions), and career information provision and support (6 questions). To confirm the validity, confirmatory factor analysis was conducted on 531 undergraduates attending four-year colleges and universities in second-order factor structure. In addition, cross validity was confirmed by correlations between the quality of student-faculty interaction sub-scales and a sense of belonging. Finally, the psychometric properties of the quality of the SFIS, including internal consistency reliability and concurrent and convergent validity, were satisfactory. Based on the results, we discuss strategies to enhance an understanding of the quality of student-faculty interaction in Korean colleges and universities and to support meaningful interaction.
