국문 초록

본 연구는 박사과정을 경험한 북한이탈여성들의 학습참여 동기 및 의미에 대한 현상학적 탐구를 목적으로 하였다. 먼저 북한이탈여성들의 학습참여 동기는 학습지향, 목표지향, 활동지향으로 나타났다. 첫째, 이들의 학습지향의 시초는 북한에서부터 시작된 공부에 대한 갈망이다. 둘째, 이들의 목표지향은 삶의 목표가 공부를 지속하게 한 힘이고, 현실적 어려움을 이겨내고 자신만의 ‘로드맵’을 만든 것이다. 셋째, 이들의 활동지향은 다양한 활동을 통해 공부에 필요한 에너지를 얻었고, 활동과 공부를 병행하며 미래를 설계하였다. 다음으로 이들의 학습참여 의미는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 목표를 향한 성찰의 여정이다. 이들은 자기 수양과 성찰을 통해 스스로를 위로하고, 목표를 재정비하고, 행복해지는 삶을 선택하고 있다. 둘째, 인생 ‘출발선의 다름’에 대한 인정과 분투이다. 탈북민이기 때문에 더 부족하다고 생각했고, 그 부족함을 채우기 위해서는 ‘죽을 만큼’ 버티고 인내하고 있었다. 셋째, 공부는 끝나지 않는 여행이다. 학습참여를 통해 가치관을 재정립하고, 공부를 통해 삶의 질을 변화시켰으며, 인간의 삶을 돈으로 판단하는 것이 아니라 ‘무형자산’이라는 배움의 가치로 평가하고 있다. 본 연구는 특수한 배경으로 어려운 환경에 노출되어 있지만, 박사과정까지 학습을 지속하는 북한이탈여성의 ‘주체적인 삶’을 탐구했다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the motives and meanings of North Korean Female Refugees who have experienced doctoral course. The motivation to participate in learning of North Korean Female Refugees was found to be learning-oriented, goal-oriented, and activity-oriented. First, the beginning of their learning orientation is their longing for study that started in North Korea. Second, their goal orientation is the force that made their life goals continue to study, overcoming realistic difficulties and creating their own ‘roadmap . Third, their activity orientation obtained the energy necessary for studying through various activities, and they designed the future by combining activities and studies. The meaning of North Korean refugee women s motivation to participate in learning are as follows. First, it is a journey of reflection towards the goal of North Korean refugee women. Through self-discipline and reflection, they comfort themselves, reorganize their goals, and choose a life that makes them happy. Second, it is an acknowledgment and struggle for the ‘different starting line in the lives of North Korean refugee women. Third, for North Korean Female Refugees, studying is a never-ending journey. It redefines values through participation in learning, changes the quality of life through study, and evaluates human life as the value of learning as ‘intangible assets’ rather than judging it as money. This study is meaningful in that it explores the ‘independent life’ of North Korean refugee women who are exposed to difficult environments with a special background, but continue to study until the doctoral course.
