국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 연구자가 자녀로서 겪은 노부모 돌봄 경험을 자문화기술지 방법에 따라 접근하여 분석하는 것이다. 이에, 연구자는 노부모가 스스로를 보살피는 자기돌봄의 생활에 어려움을 갖게 됨에 따라 대두된 돌봄의 문제에 대응해 나가는 과정에서 자녀로서 겪은 경험을 자기성찰적 및 자기반성적으로 분석하였다. 그 결과, 연구자는 다른 자녀들과 함께 노부모가 가능한 한 오랫동안 익숙한 터에서 자기돌봄의 노년을 유지해 가도록 여러 유형의 돌봄을 직접적으로 제공하였는데, 이러한 노년도 더 이상 유지하기 어렵게 되자, 여러 재가복지서비스를 연계하여 자기돌봄의 노년을 계속해서 이어나가도록 하였다. 그럼에도 이러한 노년 또한 더 이상 유지하기 어렵게 되자, 결국은 낯선 터로 이주하여 시설복지서비스에 기대어 생활하는 타인돌봄의 삶 속에서, 혹은 홀로 남은 터에서 자기돌봄의 노년을 계속해서 이어나가는 삶 속에서, 각각 신노년 문화를 창출하는 주체로 성장해가도록 돌보고 있었다. 한편, 이러한 노부모 돌봄의 과정을 거치면서 가족들 간 갈등이 심화되기도 하였지만, 이를 스스로 완화하는 자기조정력과 자기치유력도 작동시키고 있었고, 노부모를 통해 인간의 실존적인 문제를 경험하면서 이에 대해서도 성찰하는 시간을 갖고 있었다. 이에, 이러한 연구결과에 의거하여 노부모와 노부모를 돌보는 자녀들을 위한 사회복지실천에 시사하는 함의를 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The aim of the study is to report experiences of caring for elderly parents from a self-reflective perspective. The subject of this autoethnographical study is an experience of caring for elderly parents who faces difficulties in self-care. In the beginning the children including researcher tried to help their parents with support of various kinds in a way that the parents could stay in their house as long as possible. At a certain point this self-care in their old age was no longer possible. For this reason home care services were asked in order to let the elderly parents staying in their house. Nevertheless the point came when it was not possible anymore for the parents to continue aging in place. It was made necessary for the mother to move in elderly residential facilities. The children make effort to support their mother in the facilities under professional care and their father in house under self-caring. They also support that their both elderly parents can become the subject for a new culture of aging. Meanwhile, the care process caused distress and conflict between the family members. However, they find their own way to deal with the distress and the conflicts relieved with self-regulation and self-healing. And the care process caused also the family members to reflect existential issues which made them contemplate. Based on the study results, some implications are suggested for social welfare practice for elderly parents and children who take care of them.
