농정체성에 대한 농인 당사자의 인식

국문 초록

이 연구는 농인 당사자가 인식하는 농정체성에 대해 알아보기 위하여 질적연구로 수행되었다. 수화언어가 제1언어이며, 농정체성을 가진 농인 7인을 대상으로 2020년 1월부터 3월까지 개별 심층면담을 실시하였고, 면담 자료는 주제 분석 방법을 활용하여 분석하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 농인 당사자가 인식하는 농정체성의 필요성은 수화언어의 중요성, 농정체성 및 농공동체 요인과 결속되어 있다. 수화언어, 농정체성, 그리고 농공동체는 상호 간의 유형적 관계를 보인다. 농인 당사자의 인식에 ‘농’이라는 자아 인식이 정체성으로 형성되면 언어와 공동체에 대한 수용 태도는 당연한 사고의 결과로 연계된다. 둘째, 농인 당사자는 시대와 사회적 인식의 변화에 따라서 농정체성과 농문화의 위상이 달라질 것으로 예상한다. 농정체성 확립을 위한 사회적 노력과 농인 상호 간의 이해와 단합은 건강한 정체성 형성 및 사회 발전, 그리고 바람직한 청각장애교육 환경을 견인하는 원동력이 될 수 있음을 강조한다.

영문 초록

This study was conducted as a qualitative study to investigate the perception of Deaf identity of Deaf people. The participants of this study were 7 Deaf people who used Sign Language as their first language and had Deaf identity. The researcher conducted individual in-depth interviews with 7 participants from January to March 2020, and the translated interview data were analyzed by applying the topic analysis method. The results are summarized as follows: First, the necessity of Deaf identity recognized by Deaf parties is bound to the importance of sign language, Deaf identity, and factors of Deaf community. Sign language, Deaf identity, and Deaf communities show tangible relationships with each other. When the self-awareness of Deaf is formed into an identity in the perception of Deaf, the attitude toward language and community is linked to the result of natural thinking. Second, the peasant party expects the status of Deaf identity and Deaf culture to change according to the changes in the times and social perceptions. It emphasizes that social efforts to establish Deaf identity and mutual understanding and unity among Deafs can be the driving force behind healthy identity formation, social development, and a desirable Deaf education environment.
