자기심리학에 의한 자기애적 인격장애 사례연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 자기심리학을 중심으로 자기애적 인격장애에 대한 새로운 이해와 치료과정을 살펴보는 것이다. 우리 시대와 문화의 대표적인 특성으로 자기애적인 성향을 꼽을 수 있다. 기독교인들도 물론 예외는 아니다. 자기애적인 성향을 가진 사람들은 대화와 타협 대신에 대립과 투쟁으로 가족관계와 교인관계를 비롯한 모든 대인관계를 병적이고 미숙하게 만드는 특징이 있다. 반면 Kohut은 인간심리의 근본 동기가 스스로를 건강하고 행복한 자기로 발달시키려는 욕구라고 생각한다. 그러므로 건강한 자기애가 어떻게 형성되며, 병적인 자기애를 어떻게 치료하는지에 관해서 연구하려고 한다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 사례 연구방법론을 채택하였다. 두 명의 40대와 30대의 여성 내담자들이 연구참여자로 선정되었다. 자기심리학은 치료과정에서 치료사의 공감과 자기대상 역할을 강조한다. 또한 자기–자기대상 관계에서 내담자의 변형적 내재화를 치료의 필수 요소로 본다. 본 연구는 사례연구방법론 외에 목회신학적 성찰을 위해서 목회신학자 Merl Jordan의 목회적 돌봄 방법론을 적용했다. 본 연구를 통해서 목회상담사들이 목회현장에서 자기애적인 성향을 가진 기독교인들을 이해하고 돌보는 데 도움이 되기를 바란다.

영문 초록

This research is focused on a new understanding and therapy process of narcissistic personality disorder on the basis of Self Psychology. Our age and culture are mainly characterized by the modern orientation of people called ‘narcissistic personality.’ Even the christians are not exceptional in this trend. Confrontation and struggle replacing communication and compromise symbolize the people with narcissistic personality. As a consequence, they are tended to make ill–guided all interpersonal relations including family and christianity. Meanwhile, as Kohut argues, a desire for healthy and happy self–development without doubt is the basic motivation of human psychology. This is the main reason why this research is focused on how a healthy narcissistic personality is formed, and how an ill–guided one can be cured. For this purpose the research applied a case study. Two female clients aged 40s and 30s took part in the research. The Self Psychology places an emphasis on therapist and empathy in treatment process. If they share a common value, the clients will experience a selfobject transference by the therapists. Furthermore, the clients will construct their own psychological structure through transmuting internalization. In addition, the research also applies Dr. Merl Jordan’s methodology for a pastoral theological reflection. Hopefully, the result of the research is to make possible deeper understanding on the christians with narcissistic personality disorder and to provide them with better therapy.
