국문 초록

동학은 수운의 영부(靈符) 체험에서 창도되었다고 할 수 있다. 영부는 “인간에게 있는 본연의 한울”이요 “천지만물이 본래 한 기운(一氣)이자 한 마음(一心)”인 우주대생명체를 상징한 도상(圖像)이다. 동학은 각자위심에서 오는 개인의 질병과 사회적 제도의 폐단에서 기인하는 악질을 영부의 투득(透得)으로 치유하고자 한다. 투득이란 한울의 마음, 천지의 지극한 기운과 하나로 통하는 것을 말한다. 즉 천지만물을 꿰뚫어 우주로 뻗치는 일통(一通)의 한 마음, 한 기운의 대생명을 자각함으로 자신을 치병(治病)하고, 우주정신의 ‘산 혼(魂)’을 회복하여 인간사회의 폐단을 치유하는 총체적 ‘살림’이다. 일제하 방정환과 『어린이』를 중심으로 펼쳐졌던 어린이운동에서 동학의 생명사상은 ‘원기(元氣)’로 이해되었고 그것은 원기의 뻗침, 생명사랑과 자연놀이를 통한 생명의 화응, 타자의 슬픔과 고통을 눈물로 체험하는 아동예술, 비참한 조선현실의 인식, 그리고 새로운 조선 사회를 건설할 ‘주체’의 육성과 연대를 주된 내용으로 하는 생명교육으로 표출되었다. 이 중에서 특히 생명사랑과 자연과의 교감은 봄⋅여름⋅가을⋅겨울의 사계절 놀이를 통한 자연놀이로 구체화되었는데, 이는 현대 생태교육에 많은 영감을 줄 것이다.

영문 초록

The attempt to understand Donghak in the context of traditional Korean thought has been made several times. Donghak may have begun in Suun’s experience of Youngbu(靈符). The originality in the concept of Youngbu is mystical form and symbolizes the Taiji(太極) and KungKung(弓弓). Youngbu is called by Sunyak(仙藥) or Bulsayak(不死藥) in text of Dongkyungdaechon(東經大全). It means the universal mind and ether. Youngbu is inherent mind in a human being. Also It means a One Ki(一氣) of the heavens and the earth in the universe through the filling in of all things. And all things of the heaven and the earth constitutes the original One mind(一心). So this is referred to as the mind of Youngbu(靈符心) and Hanul. Human is Hanul(人乃天), and Hanul is the mind of Youngbu(靈符心). And Hanul is in all things. In Donghak Healing is to realize the Youngbu. To realize the Youngbu is one through the Hanul mind and One Ki. It will be a oneness. By realizing the oneness of mind and ether, humans can heal own disease and restore the cosmic spirit. Also furthermore, it should heal the evils of society. The children’s movement of Donghak under Japanese imperialism was spread around the Bang, Jeong-hwan and magazine “children”. In this children’s movement Youngbu were represented as ‘life’ or ‘vigor(元氣)’and its main contents were life education. That it was a love of life and sympathy of life with the natural play, a children’s art to experience sorrow and pain of others into tears, recognizing the reality of the miserable country (Chosun), and formation and solidarity of the ‘subject’ to build a new community of Chosun. Especially among the life education, sympathy with nature and love of life was embodied in the natural play through seasons play of spring, summer, autumn, winter. These give a lot of inspiration in modern education.
