고등학생들의 생물 진화 개념에 대한 과잉 확신 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 고등학교 학생들의 진화개념에 대한 과잉확신을 조사하고, 진화개념의 정확도에 과잉확신이 미치는 영향을 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 진화개념에 대한 선택형 평가 문항을 푼 뒤에 각각의 개념 평가 문항마다 자신이 한 답에 대한 확신 척도를 표시하게 하는 2단계로 된 진화개념에 대한 과잉 확신 검사 도구를 개발하였다. 두 차례의 예비투입을 통해 수정 보완하는 과정에서 검사 도구의 타당성과 신뢰도를 확보한 뒤, 총 425명의 고등학생들을 대상으로 진화개념에 대한 과잉확신 검사를 실시하여 분석했다. 연구 결과 고등학생들의 진화개념에 대한 과잉확신이 나타났으며, 비진화개념에서 보다 더 강한 과잉확신을 나타냈다. 또한 메타인지능력과 과잉확신을 독립변인으로 하였을 때 진화개념의 정확도에 미치는 영향력의 차이를 다중회귀 분석 해 본 결과, 진화개념의 정확도에 메타인지능력보다는 과잉확신이 더 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 생물 진화개념 학습을 위해 과잉확신을 고려한 교수학습 평가 방법에 대한 연구가 필요하다고 할 수 있다. 본 연구는 학생들이 과학 개념에 영향을 미치는 과잉확신에 대한 교육적 관심을 높이고, 과잉확신을 고려한 과학 교육 프로그램 개발의 필요성을 알려 주는 자료가 될 수 있다고 본다.

영문 초록

This study examined the overconfidence of high school students on evolutionary concepts and tried to understand how the overconfidence influenced the accuracy of evolutionary concepts. For this purpose, the researchers developed a two-tiered test instrument to identify overconfidence for the evolutionary concept by asking students to choose an answer to multi-choice questions and then mark the confidence scale for each answer they selected for each evolutionary concept. After confirming the validity and reliability of the instrument in the process of revising and supplementing with pilot test two times, the overconfidence test on the concept of evolution was conducted with 425 high school students. The research results show that high school students are over-convinced of the evolutionary conception and have a stronger over-conviction in evolutionary concept than the non-evolutionary concept. As a result of multiple regression analysis of the difference in influence on the accuracy of the concept of evolution, having meta-cognitive ability and overconfidence as independent variables, overconfidence was found to have stronger influence on the accuracy of evolution concept than meta-cognition ability. The results show that it is necessary to study the teaching and learning method of evaluation, taking into consideration of overconfidence rather than meta-cognitive ability for the concept learning of biological evolution. This study is meaningful in that it can help acknowledge basic needs for developing science education program considering overconfidence by strengthening educational interest in the impact of overconfidence on scientific concepts.
