국제교육실습을 시작하고 운영한 경험

국문 초록

본 연구는 우리나라에서 최초로 예비교사인 대학생들을 외국으로 국제교육실습을 보내는 프로그램을 시작하고 운영한 연구자가 자신의 경험에 대하여 자문화기술지 방법으로 서술하였다. 경험을 서술한 방식은 다음 열한 가지 항목에 따랐다: 프로그램 목적, 프로그램의 개발, 외부의 제약과 긴장, 내부의 우려, 지원자 배치 유형, 실습기관 결정, 프로그램 마케팅 및 학생의 관심 처리, 신청과정 및 지원자 선정, 프로그램 감독에게 환송될 정보, 교육실습생의 배정 업무, 지원자 오리엔테이션 및 귀국. 먼저 관련된 이론과 미국에서의 사례를 진술하였으며 연구자의 경험을 추가로 설명하였다. 연구자의 경험은 대부분 미국의 사례와 유사하였다. 하지만 미국과 우리나라는 환경이 다르고, 미국 학생들이 외국에서 모국어인 영어로 수업을 하는 반면에 우리나라 예비교사들은 외국인으로서 영어가 모국어인 미국에서 영어로 수업을 하므로 이로 인한 차이점을 추가하였다. 또한, 미국의 경우 외국으로 교육실습을 보낸 역사가 오래되고 컨소시엄을 구성하여 추진하므로 비교적 안정되게 운영되지만, 연구자의 경우 외국교육실습을 스스로 개척하고 다른 대학교와 컨소시엄을 만들어서 시행하였다. 이로 인하여 일어나는 문제도 첨언하였다. 연구자가 시작했던 국제교육실습을 효율적으로 운영했던 사유는 네 가지다. 첫째, 지도자의 비전과 지원이다. 둘째, 지원자들의 관심을 키울 기본 요소를 마련하였다. 셋째, 연구자는 열정과 끈기가 있었다. 넷째, 연구자는 미래교사들에게 높은 기대를 가졌다.

영문 초록

This study describes the experience of the researcher who started and operated the program of sending the pre-service teachers to foreign countries for the first time in Korea. The method of describing the experience was followed by the eleven items, and firstly, the related theories and cases in the United States were described, and further the researcher s experience was explained. The eleven items are: Program purpose, program development, external pressures and tensions, internal concerns, types of applicant placements, determining host institutions, marketing the program and addressing student concerns, application process and candidate selection, information to be returned to the program director, assignment of trainees, applicant orientation and reentry. The researcher s experience was mostly similar to that of the United States. However, the environment of the States and Korea is different, and American students teach English as their native language in foreign countries, while Korean pre-service teachers teach subject matters in English in the U.S.A classrooms, where English is their native language. Accordingly, the difference is added. In the case of the United States, the history of teaching practice in foreign countries is old and a consortium is formed and promoted, so it is operated relatively stable. However, in the case of the researcher, overseas student teaching(OST) was pioneered by myself and a consortium with other universities was constructed. The reason why the OST that the researcher started was efficiently operated is first, the vision and support of the leader. Second, the important problems to raise the interest of the applicants were solved; third, the researcher had grit; Lastly, the researcher had high expectations for future teachers.
