치바 메이키치(千葉命吉)의 ‘일체충동개만족론(一切衝動皆滿足論)’ 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 치바 메이키치(千葉命吉) 교육론의 핵심이라 할 수 있는 ‘충동’과 ‘독창’의 개념을 규명하고, 그들 간의 상호작용을 분석함으로써 그가 주장한 ‘일체충동개만족론(一切衝動皆滿足論)’의 의의를 밝히는 데 있다. 인간 스스로 ‘충족만족’에 방해가 되는 장애물을 제거하고 자신이 원하는 완전한 환경을 개척해나가는 ‘성취’의 과정이 ‘독창’이다. 이러한 ‘독창’의 기본 전제가 ‘일체충동개만족’이며 이 이론의 의의는 세 가지로 요약된다. 첫째, 치바의 ‘일체충동개만족론’은 치바의 교육론이기에 앞서 아동 개개인의 가치와 능력을 존중하고 그들의 독창성을 신장하고자 했던 다이쇼 신교육 사상의 근본 토대였다. 둘째, ‘충동만족’의 절대 긍정성에 기반하고 있는 ‘일체충동개만족론’은 ‘충동만족(자유)=선(교육)’이라고 하는 ‘독창교육’의 새로운 도식을 완성했다. 셋째, 치바는 ‘일체충동개만족론’의 정체성을 서양보다는 동양, 특히 일본의 전통 사상에서 찾고자 시도하였다. 결국 ‘일체충동개만족론’은 치바의 ‘독창’적 사고회로의 ‘철저’한 작동으로 탄생한 ‘다이쇼 신교육’의 일본적 수용이라고 할 수 있다. 아동의 자발적인 ‘창조적 실험’에 대한 교사의 효과적인 ‘승인 방식’이야말로 ‘일체충동개만족’을 통한 ‘창조교육’의 핵심이라는 본 연구의 결과는 ‘창조교육’을 지향하는 우리의 교육 현실에 적지 않은 시사점을 주고 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to clarify the concept of ‘impulse’ and ‘uniqueness and creativity’, which can be considered the core of Chiba Meikichi’s educational theory, and to reveal the significance of ‘The theory of all impulses and satisfaction’ by analyzing their interactions. ‘Uniqueness and creativity’ is the process of ‘achievement’ in which humans themselves remove elements that disturb ‘satisfaction’ and develop the perfect environment they want. According to the results of this study, the significance of Chiba’s theory can be summarized in three ways. First, Chiba’s “The theory of all impulses satisfaction” was the foundation of the Taisho New Education, which was to respect the values ​​and abilities of each child and to enhance their 󰡐uniqueness and creativity󰡑 before Chiba’s own educational theory. Second, ‘The theory of all impulses satisfaction’, which is based on the absolute positivity of ‘impulse satisfaction’, created a new schema for ‘creative education’, which is called ‘impulse satisfaction(freedom) = virtue(education)’. Third, Chiba attempted to find the source of “The theory of all impulses satisfaction” in traditional thoughts of the East, especially Japan, rather than the West. After all, ‘The theory of all impulses satisfaction’ is the Japanese ways of accepting “Taisho New Education” created by Chiba’s thorough creative thinking circuit. This study will be able to present the direction of ‘creative education’, which is aimed at ‘education to learn how to learn’ today, and provide significant implications.
