히브리서에 나타난 카타페타스마(καταπέτασμα)에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 히브리서에 언급된 카타페타스마(καταπέτασμα/휘장)의 어의와 용례를 분석하여 그 용어가 사용된 각각의 문맥에서 정확히 무엇을 의미하는지를 파악하고자 하였다. ‘휘장’에 해당되는 히브리어는 마사크( )와 파로케트( )이다. 전자는 성소의 세 휘장에 모두 사용되지만 단독으로 지성소 앞의 휘장에 사용된 경우는 없다. 반면에 포레케트는 문맥과 내용상 성소에서 지성소로 들어가는 휘장임이 분명하다. 70인역(LXX)에서 휘장에 대해 사용된 단어들은 카타페타스마 외에 카타칼룸마(κατακάλυμμα), 칼룸마(κάλυμμα), 그리고 에피스파스트론(ἐπίσπαστρον)이 있다. 이 단어들도 모두 어느 특정 휘장을 가리키지 않는다. 히브리서에서 카타페타스마는 세 번(6:19; 9:3; 10:20) 나온다. 6장 19절에서는 하늘 성소의 지성소앞 휘장을, 9장 3절에서는 지상성소의 지성소 바로 앞의 휘장을, 10장 20절에서는 하늘 성소의 지성소 앞의 휘장을 가리킨다. 결국, ‘휘장’이라는 단어만으로는 어느 휘장인지 알 수 없다. 또한, 히브리서에서 ‘휘장’이 언급되면 그것은 속죄일보다 예수의 대제사장 사역과 예수의 피로 말미암아 하늘 성소가 개소/봉헌되었음을 보여준다.

영문 초록

This study aims to understand the semantics and usages of καταπέτασμα in Hebrews and to investigate the theological issues of the writer of Hebrews along with his intention of using καταπέτασμα. The Hebrew words for “veil” are and . refers to all three veils in the sanctuary, but by itself never to the veil before the most holy place. is mentioned 25 times in the Old Testament, and it must be the veil for the entrance of the most holy place in regard to the context and the content. And the words for the veil in the sanctuary used in LXX are κατακάλυμμα, κάλυμμα, καταπέτασμα, ἐπίσπαστρον, and they never refers to any specific veil in the sanctuary. While καταπέτασμα is mentioned three times (6:19; 9:3; 10:20) in Hebrews, ‘the veil’ in Hebrews 6:19 means the veil in front of the most holy place in the heavenly sanctuary, and in 9:3 the veil right before the most holy place in “regulations for worship and an earthly sanctuary” of the first covenant, and in 10:20 the veil before the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary. Therefore, Thus no solid conclusion can be made in regard to which word refers to which veil, and nothing can be known about whether καταπέτασμα, meaning ‘veil,’ by itself refers to which veil in the sanctuary. And the mention of the veil in the book of Hebrews shows that the heavenly sanctuary was inaugurated/dedicated through the high priesthood and the blood of Jesus Christ rather than the Day of Atonement.
