예술교육에서 통합·융합교육의 개념 고찰

국문 초록

예술교육은 통합적 사고에 의한 창의적 인재를 육성하는 시대적 요구에 합리적으로 대처하는 교육방법을 모색하고 있다. 이 논문은 지금까지 연구되어온 통합교육과 융합교육에 대한 개념정리를 위한 연구의 과정이다. 교육학자들이 말하는 통합교육은 학교 현장에서 어떻게 해석되어지고 있는지 그리고 융합교육이라고 통용되는 STEAM에 대한 다양한 해석들을 논의한 것이다. 즉 STEAM교육에서 예술의 기능이 부각되면서 그 중요성이 탁월함에도 불구하고 통합교육으로 교수되었을 때 교사가 느끼는 한계점을 통해 예술을 중심으로 하는 통합교육과 융합교육은 무엇이 다른가?라는 의구심을 낳게 된다는 문제점으로부터 연구의 쟁점을 시작한 것이다. 논점이 논쟁으로 끝나버릴 위험성이 있음에도 불구하고 필자는 이에 대한 개념이 분명히 제시되어있지 않은 현장교육에서의 애로점을 이 지면을 통해 언급하고 예술교육에서 통합교육이나 융합교육으로 지칭되는 경계점을 재정리하고자 하였다.

영문 초록

Art education, as it might be expected, has been searching for the educational methods, satisfying rationally the needs of the times with the demand of cultivating creative minds through integrated thinking. This study is in the process of classifying and conceptualizing integrated and convergence education studied so far. I am mainly focusing on analyzing the way integrated education, asserted by educationalists, is construed at schools, and examining the various interpretations on convergence education, namely STEAM. This paper has studied the difference between convergence education and integrated education, both emphasizing the importance of art education, since I have found the limitation that educators inevitably face when integrated education is to be taught, while the significance of art is highly estimated with the emphasis on the function of art in STEAM education. Willingly taking a risk of leading the critical approach to the effortless disputes, I try to highlight the difficulties brought about by the indefinite concepts of convergence education and integrated education in education practices, and suggest the immediate investigation into art education playing a key role in convergence and integrated education, which is the aim of this study. The qualitative development in the educational situation is possible when teachers and learners experience the consummatory experiences through qualitativeness.
