지구 온난화 논쟁에 있어서 예비 초등 교사들의 주장, 근거 및 출처의 양상

국문 초록

지구 온난화라는 용어는 대중에게도 매우 친숙한 용어이다. 하지만 여전히 매우 첨예한 논쟁의 대상이 되기도 한다. 본 연구에서는 64명의 예비 초등 교사들을 상대로 지구 온난화에 대한 스스로의 이해 정도를 알아본 후 지구 온난화 수업 이후 생각을 조사하였다. 지구 온난화 수업은 온실효과, 되먹임 효과와 같은 주요 이론들의 설명과 함께 논쟁의 반대쪽 주장에 대한 설명이 포함되었다. 연구 결과, 수업 이전과 이후 지구 온난화를 지지하는 학생의 비율이 4배 이상 많았다. 하지만 수업 후 자신의 주장이 바뀐 학생은 25%에 달했다. 학생들은 표나 그래프와 같은 자료보다 배경 지식을 근거로 주장을 펼쳤으며, 그 중에서도 반론보다는 입론의 형태가 많았다. 학생들은 평균적으로 3개의 근거를 제시했으며, 근거의 출처는 대부분 정부기관, 연구소 등의 자료와 논문, 과학 전문 잡지 등의 학술 자료였다. 지구 온난화를 보다 제대로 이해하기 위해서는 특정 교과를 선택하는 학생이 아니라, 필수 교과에서부터 지구 온난화를 이해하기 위한 기본 이론과 경쟁 이론들에 대해 학습할 필요가 있겠다.

영문 초록

The term global warming is generally very familiar. However, it is still subject to very sharp debate. In this study, 64 pre-service elementary school teachers were investigated. First of all, this study surveys their own understanding for global warming, and then investigates their thoughts after the class about global warming. Global warming classes include explanations of major theories such as the greenhouse effect and the feedback effect, as well as explanations of arguments on the other side of the dispute. According to the results of the research, the percentage of students who supported global warming was more than four times higher than before and after classes. However, after class, 25% of students changed their opinions. Students made their arguments based on background knowledge rather than data such as charts and graphs, and there were more arguments than objections. On average, the students presented three reasons, and most of them came from government agencies and research institutes and academic materials such as papers and scientific journals. In order to better understand global warming, students should learn basic and competitive theories to understand global warming from essential subjects, not from specific subjects.
