Comparison Research on Mathematical Knowledge for Prospective Teachers: Focus on Secondary Mathematics Teacher Selection Tests in Korea and China

국문 초록

수학 지식은 수학 교사의 전문성 정도를 예상하는 주요 준거가 되며, 국가 수준의 교사 선발 시험을 통해 해당 국가가 주목하는 교사 전문성의 측면을 파악할 수 있다. 이에 본 연구는 2009년부터 2019년에 시행한 한국과 중국의 중등 수학 교사 선발 시험의 평가 틀과 평가 문항을 비교하여 그 특징과 차이점을 분석하였다. 분석 결과 한국의 선발 시험은 예비 교사들이 지닌 대학 수준의 수학 지식에 주목하고 있으며, 중등 수학 자체나 중등 수학과 대학 수학의 연결성과 관련된 지식은 거의 평가하지 않았다. 반면 중국의 선발 시험에서 평가 문항 대부분은 중등 학교 수준의 수학 문제를 해결하는 예비 교사의 능력을 살피고 있으며, 대학 수학과 관련된 평가 문항의 비율이 매우 낮았다. 이상과 같은 결과에 비추어 본 연구는 중등 수학 교사 선발 시험에서 중등 수학과 대학 수학의 연결성과 관련된 예비 교사의 지식을 평가하는 문항이 필요하며, 교사 교육과정을 통해서도 중등 수학과 대학 수학의 연결성을 강조하는 안목의 개발에 목표를 둔 강좌의 필요성이 절실함을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

Mathematical knowledge is one of the essential components for the degree of mathematics teachers’ professional development. The national employment test for teachers plays a crucial role to insure teachers’ quality. This paper compared the structure and items of secondary mathematics teacher selection tests in Korea and China in 2009-2019. An analysis of specific items was made to find the features and differences of mathematical knowledge standards for secondary teachers in two countries. According to the results, Korea paid more attention to teachers’ advanced knowledge while hardly concerning the secondary mathematical part nor the connection of two levels. In contrast, China used a large proportion to examine teachers’ capacity to deal with secondary mathematical problems of the student level and slightly involved the advanced mathematics in university level. From this comparison, this paper suggests evaluating in form of the connections between secondary and advanced mathematics for the teacher employment test, emphasizes the training courses for prospective teachers with a connective view on secondary and advanced mathematics.
