청각장애 학생 교육의 변화와 발전방안: 청각장애학교 교사의 30여년간 현장 경험을 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 1990년 이후 30여 년 간의 청각장애학교 교육의 변화와 발전방안을 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 25년 이상 30여 년간 청각장애학교에서 근무한 현장 전문가를 대상으로 포커스 그룹 면담을 실시하였다. 면담자료는 지속적 비교분석법에 따라 분석되었으며, 그 결과 4개의 대주제와 13개의 하위주제가 도출되었다. 4개의 대 주제는 첫째, 특수교육 대상자라는 마이너리티 집단속에서도 마이너리티인 청각장애 학생, 둘째, 제도와 기술, 그리고 사람의 변화, 셋째, 경우의 수가 많은 구성원과 복잡한 의사소통 방식에 따른 갈등, 넷째, 청각장애 학교의 미래를 위한 과제 등으로 나타났다. 연구 결과에 근거하여 청각장애 특수학교의 역할 변화와 관계 부처 및 관련 영역 간 협력 체계 구축, 청각장애 학생의 의사소통 양식에 따른 갈등을 넘어 효율적인 교과교육과 사회․정서적 지원 방안에 대하여 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study examines the changes of Special Education trends at Special Education schools for children with hearing impairment and deafness for the last 30 years since 1990 and its future. To accomplish the goal of this study, we performed a focus group interviews with the professionals who have worked at the special schools for children with hearing impairment and deafness for over twenty-five years. The result of focus group interview was analyzed through continuous comparative analysis method, and four topics and fourteen subtopics were derived from the analysis. The four topics include: 1) Students with hearing impairment and deafness is a minority group within disability categories 2) Changes in the regulations, technology, and people 3) conflicts derived from complex way of communication amongst the community members 4) growth opportunities for the better future of schools for children with hearing impairment and deafness. Based on such a result of the analysis, the paper suggests 1) changing role of the schools for children with hearing impairment and deafness, 2) building systematic cooperation among public and private organization, 3) strengthening the quality of education for children with hearing impairment and deafness despite the communication difficulties, and 4) improving the quality of lives of children with hearing impairment and deafness through social and emotional support.
