Research Trends and Future Academic Goals for Vocational Rehabilitation in Korea

국문 초록

본 연구는 직업재활의 학문적 성과를 알아보고 과학으로서의 직업재활의 발전방향을 모색하고 있다. 먼저, 지난 1991년부터 2006년까지 [직업재활연구]에 수록된 논문 200 여 편에 대하여 연구주제 및 연구방법을 분석하고 그 동향을 살펴보는 한편, 직업재활의 발전에 있어 필수적인 요소하고 할 수 있는 연구인력의 저변이 확대되고 있음을 보여주고 있다. 나아가 재활과학이 앞으로 학문적 발전을 이룩하기 위해 지향해야 할 방향성을 다음과 같이 제안하고 있다: 1) 사회학을 비롯한 다른 인문사회과학과의 교류를 통하여 직업재활의 이론적 영역을 보다 확장시킬 필요가 있다: 2) 연구주제와 관련하여 직업재활의 제도적 차원 및 사회문화적 맥락에 관심을 기울일 필요가 있다: 3) 양적 연구방법을 이용한 연구 성과물에 비해 질적 연구방법을 이용한 연구성과물이 상대적으로 미약하다. 따라서 재활과학의 발전을 위해서는 양 방법론의 균형된 발전이 필요하다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this article is to assess the development of vocational rehabilitation science in Korea and to suggest the future direction for Vocational Rehabilitation research and practice. The two-hundred and six articles published in the Korean Journal of Vocational Rehabilitation were analyzed to identify the research question. This study found: 1) an increase in the number of authors from different academic disciplines and professional backgrounds, 2) diversity in subject matter, and 3) a shift to empirical and statistically-based methodologies. These trends suggest that the theoretical base for vocational rehabilitation science in Korea is being strengthened through the incorporation of relevant theories from other disciplines and the experiences of practitioners in the field. The author recommends that the discipline should continue to include the advantages gained by the interdisciplinary exchanges and to further explore the relationship between academic vocational rehabilitation and its socio-cultural context.
