국문 초록

본 연구는 지역사회 직업훈련(직업교육) 환경에서 상황중심 안전기술 교수가 지적장애(정신지체) 고등학생의 위험대처기술 수행에 미치는 효과를 알아보는 목적으로 수행되었다. 본 연구 참여자인 특수학교 고등부 3학년 지적장애학생 네 명에게 위험대처기술을 교수하기 위하여, 지역사회 직업훈련 환경에서 발생할 수 있는 5가지 종류의 10가지 구체적 위험상황을 선정한 후 10가지 역할극을 통하여 지도하는 상황중심 안전기술 교수 를 연구자들이 고안하여 실시하였다. 연구설계로는 대상자간 중 다간헐기초선 설계가 사용되었다. 본 연구결과, 첫째, 지역사회 직업훈련 환경에서 상황중심 안전기술 교수는 지적장애 고등학생의 위험대처기술 수행을 향상시켰다. 둘째, 지역사회 직업훈련 환경에서 상황중심 안전기술 교수로 향상된 지적장애 고등학생의 위험대처기술은 중재가 종결된 이후에도 유지되었다. 결과적으로 상황중심 안전기술 교수는 지적장애 고등학생들이 지역사회 직업훈련 환경에서 요구되는 위험대처기술을 습득 및 유지하는데 효과적임을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 지적장애 학생들과 성인들의 지역사회 참여가 증가하면서 직면하게 되는 여러 가지 위험상황에 대처할 수 있는 기술에 대한 교수가 활발히 실시되지 않는 현 직업교육 및 직업재활 현장에서 상황중심 안전기술 교수 프로그램을 고안하여 소개하고 그 효과를 밝히는 자료를 제공하는 의의를 지닌다. 본 연구는 취업교육 혹은 직업재활 현장에서 지적장애인에게 특정 직무기술 외에 직무관련기술의 하나로 위험대처기술을 교수할 필요성을 재강조하며, 직업 맥락외에 학교와 가정이나 지역사회 및 여가생활 맥락에서도 요구되는 위험대처기술들을 교수할 필요성을 제기하며, 그 기술을 가장 효과적으로 교수할 프로그램의 개발과 그 효과성을 밝히는 후속연구들의 중요성을 지적한다. 나아가 지적장애학생의 지역사회 직업훈련과 지적장애인 지원고용의 후훈련과정에서 교수적 측면의 중요성과 그 질의 개선 필요성을 지적한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of situation-based safety instruction on the performance of safety skills of adolescents with intellectual disabilities in a community vocational training setting. Four high school students with intellectual disabilities participated in this study. Multiple probe design across subjects was used for interventions, maintenance conditions to examine the effects of situation-based instruction on the performance of safety skills of adolescents with intellectual disabilities. We designated ten possible dangerous situations(five kinds of job-related dangerous situations and two concrete examples of each kind) which are likely to occur in community vocational settings. We taught four high school students with intellectual disabilities to learn how to properly cope with those dangerous situations. Situation-based safety instruction utilized ten different role plays to teach the steps of handling ten different dangerous situations. The results of this study were summarized as follows: first, when the situation-based instruction of safety skills were applied to four high school students with intellectual disabilities, the scores of performance of the safety skills increased; second, the improved performances of safety skills were maintained during more than three weeks after the intervention was withdrawn. Based on the results, it could be concluded that the situation-based instruction of safety skills was effective for four highschool students with intellectual disabilities to acquire and maintain the safety skills in job-related dangerous situations in a community vocational training site. Implications of this study indicate the need for increased attention to selection of priority job-related skills such as safety skills and the importance of applying effective teaching strategies for individuals with intellectual disabilities to acquire necessary job-related and other functional skillls in home, school, job, community, and recreational environments. Some limitations of this study were presented and topics for future research were provided.
