국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 만 3세, 만 4세, 만 5세 유아의 시간에 대한 인식의 차이를 비교분석하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 S시에 소재한 G유치원의 만 3세, 만 4세, 만 5세 유아를 각각 10명씩 30명과 L어린이집의 만 3세, 만 4세, 만 5세 유아를 각각 10명씩 30명을 표집하여 총 60명의 유아를 대상으로 시간에 대한 인식의 차이를 검사하였다. 유아들의 시간에 대한 인식을 알아보기 위하여 Grant와 Suddendorf(2009)의 도구를 정여진(2015)이 번안해서 사용했던 도구를 본 연구에 알맞게 수정․보완하여 사용하였다. 유아의 시간에 대한 인식을 분석해 보고자 SPSS 20.0프로그램을 활용하여 일원분산분석을 실시하였으며 사후검정으로 Scheffe를 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 만 3세, 만 4세 유아에 비해 만 5세 유아가 과거와 미래에 대한 시간개념의 인식이 높다는 것을 알 수 있었고, 연령별로 과거와 미래의 시간개념에 대한 인식에 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통하여 유아의 발달에 따른 시간개념의 인지 구성과정을 이해할 수 있었으며, 본 연구결과는 이후 유아를 위한 관련 교육과정을 구성할 때 기초자료로 사용될 수 있다는 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to understand preschool children’s ability to differentiate time lines of past and future and how they perceive the concept of time. The study of Children’s perception on time lines was researched by age. Using a study tool that measures timelimes, this was conducted with 60 children in total aged three, four and five from two educational providers in Sejong city and this study analyzes children’s perception on time lines and different abilities across the age groups. The results show that five-year-olds performed better in understanding time lines and recognition of both past and future compared to the other groups aged, three-year-olds and four-year-olds. In addition, the study shows obvious age-specific difference on the perception of past and future. This study aims to show how preschool children recognize abstract as well as complex nature of time and understand the time cognitive process according to developmental stages of children. The study has great significance that it can provide data based study materials of educational curriculum for history education related to the concept of time.
