존 듀이 미학적 관점에서 음악표현의 문제

국문 초록

존 듀이 미학적 관점에서 음악표현 행위와 표현 대상들은 유기적이고도 환경적인 조건들과 에너지들의 상호작용으로부터 하나의 통합적 경험의 유기화의 발전으로서 발생한다. 그리고 음악표현 행위와 대상들은 모두 매체를 통해 발생하는데, 수렴적 완성의 경험 경우에 매체는 환경 내의 자연적이고도 객관적인 질료의 총체성이 된다. 음악의 경우, 미적 경험 안의 매체는 음의 구성요소 등의 관점에서 더욱 명백한 종류의 것들이 된다. 한편, 미적 정서는 표현 행위의 과정과 소산을 지도하고 결합시키는 기능으로서 표현을 구성하는 것이지만, 표현의 의미심장한 내용은 아니다. 그러므로 존 듀이 미학적 관점에서 음악표현의 의미심장한 내용은 새롭고 강화되며 명료화된 미적 경험 그 자체가 된다. 음악표현은 객관적인 상황에서 음악가의 자연적인 충동에 의해 가능한 긴장과 흥분에 의해 일어난다. 긴장과 흥분에 안정성을 제공하는 그들의 축적된 의미들과 객관적인 조건들은 새롭고 가치로운 미적 상황이 된다. 따라서 음악표현은 음악경험을 설정하는 하나의 미적 경험을 구성하는데, 이 때 음악표현은 음악의미로 안내되는 것이 아니라 음악의미를 구체화시키는 것이 된다.

영문 초록

The act and object of musical expression in John Dewey s aesthetic view come from an organization and its development of an integral experiences is also out of interaction of organic and environmental conditions and energies. And both act and object of musical expression occur through a medium, which in the case of consummatory experience is totality of natural and objective material in the environment. The case of music, within aesthetic experience media are of the more obvious sort in terms of sound. Otherwise aesthetic emotion functions to direct and cement the process and product of expression, it is constitutive of expression but not the significant content of it. Therefore significant content in the meaning of music in John Dewey s view, which is new, intensified, and clarified aesthetic experience itself. Musical expression occurs by way of strain and tension established by objective circumstances upon the natural impulses of the musician. One s funded meanings provide the stable characteristics for such strain and tension, and objective conditions are the novel or precious traits of aesthetic situation. Therefore musical expression constitutes an aesthetic experience which establishes the condition of the musical experience, in this time, musical expression does not lead to the meanings of music, it embodies them.
