국문 초록

문화다양성이 강조되고 있는 21세기 급격한 사회 변화의 물결은 우리 교육 현장에도 지대한 영향을 미치고 있다. 이에 따라 90년대 중반으로부터 시작되어 현재에 이르기까지 교육실천분야에서 커다란 영향력을 행사하고 있는 구성주의는 현대 사회의 급격한 변화를 모두 아우르는 데 있어서 한계에 봉착하게 되었다. 이에 본 연구에서는 구성주의의 기여를 계승하고 그 한계를 극복하는 동시에, 21세기의 맥락을 적극 수용할 수 있는 새로운 교수학습이론으로써‘카니발 페다고지’를 제안하고자 한다. 카니발 페다고지는 구성주의 인식론의 기반 위에 Bakhtin의 카니발 이론과 Freire의 페다고지를 접목한 결과물로써 형평성과 포용에 입각한‘모두를 위한 교육’의 실천을 그 목적으로 한다. 이에 따라 학교 현장의 단위 수업에서 카니발 페다고지를 적용할 수 있는 방안에 대한 논의와 더불어 카니발 페다고지의 수업 단계를 4단계로 정리, 제시하였다. 향후 카니발 페다고지에 대한 지속적 연구와 다양한 분야에서의 적용을 통해 현장 교사 중심의 실천이 수반되었을 때, 비로소 교육을 통한 형평성과 포용의 실현을 기대할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

Cultural diversity featured as a distinctive characteristic of the 21st century has enormously influenced educational fields, raising new issues around global educational practices. Constructivism, in this context, positioned as the main stream in educational theory ever since mid-90s, is challenged by the current socio-educational phenomena requiring wholistic perspectives of ideological, political, and social aspects as well as cognitive aspects in education. This study, therefore, attempted to suggest ‘Carnival pedagogy’ as a new leaning and teaching theory for the purpose of both overcoming the limit of constructivism, and deepening its contribution. Carnival Pedagogy, firmly based upon constructivist epistemology, converges both Canival theory by Bakhtin and critical pedagogy by Freire. While ultimately aiming ‘education for All’grounded on the themes of equality and inclusion, this study first discussed how to practice the carnival pedagogy in classroom, which is followed by the 4 stages of the carnival pedagogy for teaching. Carnival pedagogy, when accompanied by further research and practices in diverse educational fields, might attain its sustainablity as a learning and teaching theory appropriate for achieving education for equality and inclusion in the 21st century.
