성장신념과 그릿의 관계에서 목표 내용의 역할

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 그릿과 성장신념, 목표의 관계를 탐색함에 있어서 구체적으로 성장신념과 그릿의 관계에서 목표 내용이 어떠한 조절 기능을 하고 있는지를 살펴보았다. 그릿은 흥미유지와 노력지속의 하위요인으로 구성되어 있으며, 목표 내용은 내재목표(개인성장, 관계, 사회 공헌)와 외재목표(부, 이미지, 명성)로 구성되어 있다. 연구를 위해 남녀 고등학생 248명의 자료를 수집하였고, 잠재조절구조방정식 모형을 사용하여 연구모형을 검증하였다. 6개의 목표 내용별 모형을 분석한 결과, 개인성장, 관계, 명성 지향 목표의 경우에만 유의한 상호작용 효과가 나타났다. 즉 성장신념이 높을수록 그릿의 하위 요인 중 노력지속이 높아졌으며, 성장신념과 목표의 상호작용들은 흥미유지만을 정적으로 예측하였다. 또한 내재목표에 속하는 개인성장, 관계 지향 목표의 조절효과는 외재목표에 속하는 명성 지향 목표의 조절효과보다 그 상대적 크기가 컸다. 이로써 목표 내용별로 그릿의 흥미유지를 증폭시키는 효과가 다르게 나타날 수 있음을 확인하였다.

영문 초록

The overall purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among grit, growth mindset and goals. Specifically, we examined how goal content moderated the relationship between growth mindset and grit. Grit consists of two sub-factors such as consistency of interest and perseverance of effort; and goal contents include intrinsic goals (personal growth, relationship, social contribution) and external goals (wealth, image, fame). Data from 248 high school students were collected and the research hypotheses was tested using a latent moderated structural equation model. Results showed that first, the higher was the growth mindset, the higher was perseverance of effort in grit. Second, only personal growth, relationship, and fame goals showed significant interaction effects. In addition, The interaction between growth mindset and goals significantly predicted consistency of interest, not perserverance of effort. Finally, the moderating effect of intrinsic goals (i.e. personal growth and relationship) was relatively larger than that of extrinsic goals (i.e. fame), meaning that the amplifying effect of goal on grit’s consistency of interest might be different depending on its content.
