초등과학 생명영역의 환경 관련 단원과 학습주제의 변천에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 초등과학의 생명영역에서 환경교육의 내용요소에 대한 변천과정을 조사하여 개정되어 온 환경 교육과정이 학교 교육과정에 어떻게 편성되었는지 분석하고 교육과정에 따른 환경교육의 흐름을 알아보는 데 있다. 이를 위하여 교수요목기에서 현행 2007 개정 교육과정까지의 교과서 및 지도서를 중심으로 분석한 결과, 환경 관련 단원들은 교육과정에 따라 생물의 보호에서 생태계, 환경오염, 쾌적한 환경 순으로 변천되었다. 학습주제들은 교육사조의 시대상황을 반영하여 생활중심, 학문중심, 인간중심으로 변천되었음을 알 수 있었다. 제 3차 교육과정부터 ‘환경과 생물’에 관한 개념 교육이 체계적으로 실시되기 시작하였으며, 특히 환경오염이 처음으로 도입되어 공기오염과 수질오염의 일부만을 취급하다가 제 4차 교육과정 이후부터 점차 토양오염, 쓰레기, 소음으로까지 확대되었다. 이러한 현상은 날로 심각해지는 환경오염으로 인해 계속적으로 세분화하여 다루어지고 있음을 나타낸다. 또한 제 4차 교육과정부터 2007 개정 교육과정까지 환경문제의 해결과 생태계 개념으로서의 환경보존 측면이 강조되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 초등과학 생명영역의 환경 관련 단원 및 주제의 변천과 특성을 파악할 수 있는 기초 자료로 활용할 수 있다.

영문 초록

The present study aims at examining the transition process from syllabus to the 2007 revised curriculum in units related to environment and biology in elementary school science. As a result of making an analysis of environment and biology-related contents based on textbooks from syllabus to the 2007 revised curriculum, conceptual education for environment and biology was conducted systematically from the 3rd curriculum, which shares the global trends and period in the late 1960s when the need of environmental education began to be stressed. From that period, ‘environmental pollution’ started to be mentioned for the first time, and only air and water pollutions were treated ; gradually, education of soil pollution, waste, and noise have been added since the 4th curriculum. These phenomena indicate that it is handled by segmenting continuously due to environmental pollution which becomes serious day by day. Accordingly, the present study has provided basic data to set up direction of environmental education connected with biology in the elementary school in the future along with new recognition of the environment which gets more and more serious.
