《포페아의 대관식》에 나타난 코메디아 델라르테의 요소

국문 초록

본 논문은 베네치아 오페라의 초기 작품으로 부제넬로의 대본에 몬테베르디가 음악을 쓴 《포페아의 대관식》을 중심으로 지금까지 바로크 음악사나 오페라사에서 조명하지 못 한 17세기 베네치아 오페라에 끼친 막 구성, 줄거리 전개방식, 인물 관계도, 음모 등 코메디아 델라르테의 영향에 대해 알아보고자 한다. 《포페아의 대관식》을 분석한 결과, 막 구성, 줄거리 전개 방식, 인물 관계도 형성, 음모, 변장, 외설적인 장면의 삽입 등 코메디아 델라르테의 요소가 다분히 반영되어 있다. 그리하여 《포페아의 대관식》은 몬테베르디 이후 베네치아 오페라를 주도한 칼레티의 《오르민도》, 《이아손》, 체스티의 《오론테아》 등의 작품에서 확인할 수 있듯이 오페라 제작자들이 코메디아 델라르테의 특징적 요소를 적극적으로 이용하고 응용하면서 사랑에 빠진 연인, 말더듬는 희극적인 하인, 음모를 꾸미는 악당, 암살시도, 위장된 신분의 발각 등 베네치아 오페라의 관습을 형성하는 데에 모델로 삼을 수 있는 작품이었던 것이다. 나아가 코메디아 델라르테의 요소를 반영한 베네치아 오페라의 문화는 로마 오페라로 전파되어 막 구성, 변장 등 코메디아 델라르테의 특징적인 요소들이 수용되고 그 유형화된 등장인물이 직접적으로 도입된 첫 오페라 《고통 받는 자여 희망을 가져라》가 제작될 수 있는 문화적 환경에 기여했다는 것이다. 또 18세기에 들어서서 인테르메초 와 코메디아 페르 무지카 형태로 발전하게 된 오페라 부파의 전통이 시작된다면 베네치아 오페라가 오페라 역사에서 점하는 중요한 의미가 될 것이다.

영문 초록

This paper looks into the influence of commedia dell arte on the 17th century Venetian opera, in the scene composition, plot development style, relationships between characters, conspiracy, and so on, which had not been highlighted by Baroque music or opera history, by a focused research on L incoronazione di Poppea, an early work of the Venetian opera, written by Giovanni Francesco Busenello and scores written by Claudio Monteverdi. The analytic results of L incoronazione di Poppea shows that much of commedia dell arte elements are reflected such as scene composition, plot development style, relationship between characters, conspiracy, disguise, insertion of an obscene scene. It means that Monteverdi s L incoronazione di Poppea became the work to be a model as it creates the tradition of Venetian opera customs; such as a lover falling in love, comedic servant stuttering, a villain plotting a conspiracy, an assassination attempt, a disguised identity being revealed and others. Those traditions are later appeared in the works that followed and led the Venetian opera, such as Pier Francesco s Caletti s Ormindo(1644) and Giasone(1648-1649) and Pietro Antonio Cesti s Orontea(1649) and more, in which the opera producers actively used and applied characteristic elements of commedia dell arte. Furthermore, the culture of the Venetian opera reflecting the element of commedia dell arte was spread to the Roman opera and contributed to the cultural environment that allowed the production of Chi-soffre speri (1637). It was the first opera in which the elements of commedia dell arte were directly introduced such as the scene composition, disguise, and fixed characters. Further, as the tradition of opera buffa, developed to be the form of intermezzo and commedia per musica , begins in the 18th century, it had been an important indication Venetian opera hold on opera history.
