국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 학급 내 동료 효과가 발생하는 과정을 이론적으로 정리하고 이를 실증분석하여 추정하는 데 있다. 이론적 검토를 통해 동료 변수로 학생 본인을 제외한 학급 동료의 수준, 수업 방해 행위, 학급의 이질성을 선정하였다. 연구 결과 학급 동료의 수준은 학생 본인의 학업성취도에 통계적으로 유의미한 양(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었으나, 동시성까지 통제된 모형에서는 유의미성과 영향의 크기가 크게 줄어들었다. 그럼에도 불구하고 학급 하위 3명의 평균 학업성취도는 여전히 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 상위권 동료보다도 하위권 동료의 영향력이 더 강함을 의미하는 것으로서 선행연구의 내용과 상당부분 합치한다. 학급 내 이질성은 모형에 따라 유의미한 양(+)의 영향을 미치는 경우도 있고, 그렇지 않은 경우도 있어서 좀 더 면밀한 연구가 필요해 보인다. 수업 방해 행위는 유의미하게 나타나지 않았는데 동료의 수준 변수에 상당 부분 이미 포착되었기 때문인 것으로 보인다.

영문 초록

This paper aims to articulate how the peer effects generate in theoretical dimension and to estimate it in positive dimension. By theoretical review, classmates’average academic performance except student him or herself, degree of disturbance behavior in teaching-learning process, and degree of heterogeneity in classroom are chosen for peer variables. As a result of estimation, the peer variables have statistically significant positive impact on student’s own academic performance, but is only has limited impact under the model that the reflection problem has been corrected. Even though, an average performance of the lowest three students in class still has significant and positive impact. It means stronger impact of academically lowest peers than highest peers, and it generally coincides with previous studies. The degree of heterogeneity has significant positive impact only in several models, so more sophisticated researches need. Finally, the degree of disturbance behavior does not have any significant impact, because it seems to have already been captured by peer quality variables.
