국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 유치원 방과 후 과정에서 만 5세 유아가 느끼는 행복의 의미를 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 경기도 용인 소재 C유치원의 방과 후 과정을 이용하는 만 5세 유아 51명(남아 31명, 여아 20명)을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 방과 후 과정에서 만 5세 유아가 느끼는 행복의 의미는 첫째, 친구들과 함께 먹는 맛있는 간식, 둘째, 더 많은 놀이, 셋째, 나를 사랑해주시는 선생님, 넷째, ‘하고 싶은’ 것을 해도 되는 편안함, 끝으로, 잘하는 ‘나’를 확인하는 순간으로 나타났다. 본 결과를 토대로 유아교육 현장에서 활동량이 많은 만 5세 유아들에게 맛있는 간식과 친구와 더 많이 놀 수 있는 시간과 공간 마련, 교사들이 유아를 사랑하고 안전하게 지켜주고 유아의 선택권을 존중하도록 돕는 지속적인 교사 교육, 유아에게 자부심을 느낄 수 있는 기회를 제공하는 것이 맞벌이 가정이 증가하는 오늘날, 유아의 행복감을 증진시키는 방안임을 제안하였다. 본 연구는 유아의 행복을 증진을 위한 교육 환경과 교사 역할에 대해 만 5세 유아들의 목소리를 통해 직접 살펴보았다는 점에서 연구의 의의를 지닌다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to research the meaning of happiness as felt by 5-year-olds in a kindergarten all-day class. For this purpose, an in-depth interview was conducted on a sample group of 51 5-year-olds (31 boys and 21 girls) in 2 all-day classes. The results are as follows: the meaning of happiness to a 5-year-old in a kindergarten all-day class is represented by five elements. Firstly, snacks shared with friends, secondly, fun activities, third, a teacher who loves us, fourth, the freedom to do as one liked, and lastly, the experience and confirmation of self-esteem. Based on the results of this study, we propose classroom reforms such as allotment of time and space for children to play amongst peers, education of teachers with a focus on love and respect for the children, and a kindergarten curriculum designed to foster self-esteem. This study is notable in that it includes direct consideration and involvement of 5-year-old children in an attempt to look at the subject from a child’s viewpoint. Through this, the study seeks to promote child happiness through the in-depth investigation into the role of educators and the educational environment, and their impact on child education.
