국문 초록

한국인의 사망 원인 가운데 2위를 차지하는 것이 심혈관계 질환이며(통계청, 1998), 미국의 경우에는 심장질환이 1940년대부터 제 1의 사망 원인으로 지속적으로 나타나고 있다(Stioebe & Stroebe， 1995). 그런데 최근 연구에 의하면 분노가 심혈관계 질환에 대하여 가장 핵심적인 심리적 요인으로 나타나고 있다(예, Anderson， & Lawler， 1995; Siegman， 1994; Johnson， Spielberger，Worden， & Jacobs， 1987; Spielberger， Krasner， & Solomon， 1988). 사실， 분노와 심혈관계 질환간의 연관성은 이미 Celsus에 의하여 아주 오래 전에 언급된 바 있으며 (30 A.D.; Dembroski, MacDougall， Eliot, & Buell， 1983에서 재인용), 현대에 이르러 과학적 연구(예， Goldstein， Edelberg， Meier， & Davis， 1988)에서도 분노가 심혈관계 질환과 밀접한 연관성이 있음이 나타나고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 최근 연구에 의하면 분노는 암이나(Greer， Morris， & Pettingale， 1979; Kune， Kune， Watson， & Bahnson， 1991; Morris， Greer， Pettingale， & Watson， 1981) 통증(Kerns， Rosenberg， & Jacob， 1994)에 대하여도 중요한 심리적 요인으로 나타나고 있다.

영문 초록

The present study reports on the fourth stage of the Korean adaptation of the State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory (STAXI-K). The primary purpose of the study was to improve the reliability and validity of the STAXI-K. Especially， there have been a couple of items which revealed different factor structures, compared to the original STAXI in English. Thus, 11 indigenous items selected from the open questionnaire on anger were included in the present study, and the newly constructed experimental scale was administered with 341 college students and 101 adult population. The major findings included: (1) Four items were replaced with new items based on item-total correlation and factor analysis; (2) All scales but anger-in (α= .66) revealed satisfactory level of internal consistency with higher than .70; (3) Factor structure of the STAXI-K revealed the same factor structure to the original English STAXI and (4) Correlation analyses revealed a considerable association between anger-in and anger-out, suggesting that these two variables may not be independent. The present findings were discussed with previous studies across cultures and implications for future studies are suggested.
