영문 초록

Objectives : This study was designed to test the hypothesis that amitriptyline relieves the pain of diabetic neuropathy and this effect is not mediated by change in mood. Methods: 15 patients with painful diabetic neuropathy received 4weeks of amitriptyline and same number of patients received 4 weeks of dilantin. Changes of pain and depressive symptoms were assessed by Medical College of Wisconsin Noncancer Pain Follow-up Questionnaire and Beck Depression Inventory respectively. Results : In both groups, overall improvements of intensity at its worst were significant, but dropout numbers were high, 8 among 15, in dilantin group. And only in amitriptyline group, overall improvements of pain at its least severe, pain as it usually is, pain at present time were significant These amitriptyline analgesia were not related with change in mood. Conclusion : Above results might suggest that amitriptyline relieves pain in diabetic neuropathy and this effect is independent of mood elevation
