교육과학기술부에서 지원하는 서울·경기지역 학생 오케스트라의 운영실태 조사

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 교육과학기술부에서 지원하는 학생 오케스트라 운영 실태를 조사한 후 교육의 실태와 효과성을 파악하고, 이를 토대로 발전방안을 모색하는 것이다. 연구대상은 2011년에 선발된 학생 오케스트라 중, 서울 경기 지역 5개 학교의 학생 176명과 6개 학교의 지도교사 6명이며, 설문지를 이용하여 오케스트라의 교육적 효과와 운영 실태, 합주 지도 실태, 발전 방안 등을 조사하였다. 학생들은 학생 오케스트라에 대하여 대부분 긍정적이었다. 학생들은 오케스트라 공연에 대한 관심도가 높아졌고, 취미와 적성 계발, 음악 과목에 대한 이해, 자신감 등이 높아졌다고 응답했다. 교사들도 학생 오케스트라가 학생들의 진로 탐색, 정서 안정, 사회성과 협동심 발달 등에 도움이 되었고, 운영 면에서도 무상 악기대여, 파트별 실기 지도 강사 섭외, 다수의 연주회 개최 등 효과적이고 활발한 운영을 하고 있었다. 한편, 연주할 수 있는 악곡의 부족과 지역 사회의 낮은 관심도 등의 문제점들도 존재했는데 이에 대한 발전 방안은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 정부의 지속적인 지원과 지역사회 연계가 강화되어야 한다. 둘째, 청소년에게 맞는 악곡 개발 및 지도교사에 대한 지속적인 교육지원이 있어야 한다. 셋째, 진급 후에도 학생 오케스트라 활동을 계속할 수 있는 제도적인 장치가 필요하다.

영문 초록

The purpose of the present study is to examine student orchestras supported by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in terms of educational outcomes and effectiveness to come up with future program development. The research scope is 176 students from 5 schools and 6 teachers from 6 schools in Seoul and Kyonggi Area Student Orchestras that were selected in 2011. The study utilized survey instruments to measure educational outcome, performance instruction, and suggestion for improvement. Most students had positive response about student orchestra, reporting higher interest in orchestra performance, music aptitude development, understanding of music subjects, and self-confidence. Teachers reported that student orchestra had positive impact on students’ future outlook, emotional stability, social and cooperative development, no-cost instrument rental, avaliable teachers lesson for each instrument, and orchestra concerts. On the other hand, a limited number of available music score and a low level of community interest were reported as the area of needed improvement. Accordingly, the present study provides the following recommendations: first, there is a need for the continued support by the Ministry and an enhanced community involvement; second, there is a need to provide resources for music scores that are appropriate for students level and also to support music teachers for instructional development and network; and third, there is a need to make system for continued participation when moving up in grade level.
