<유봉선전> 연구 - 이본 소개 및 관련 작품 서사단락 대비를 중심으로

국문 초록

본 논문은 그간 구체적인 연구가 이루어지지 않은 고전소설, <유봉선전>을 분석 대상으로 하였다. 충남대학교 도서관에 소장된 <유봉선전>을 <기연회봉록>의 이본으로 소개한 기록이 있지만 충남대본 <유봉선전>이 낙장본이어서인지 <기연회봉록>과 비교하는 본격 연구는 이루어지지 않았다. 그런데 최근 15세 소저가 썼다는 기록이 남아 있는 고령본 <유봉선전>을 접하게 되어, 이 기회에 충남대본과 고령본 <유봉선전>을 함께 두고 내용을 검토하게 되었다. 그리고 그 결과 이 작품이 <기연회봉록>의 이본이 아니라는 점을 우선 확인하였다. 두 책 모두 낙장본이긴 하지만 서로의 부족한 부분을 보완할 수 있을 것으로 기대하여 먼저는 고령본 <유봉선전>과 충남대본 <유봉선전>의 서지사항, 경개 등을 정리하고, 필사상의 같고 다름을 확인하는 이본 비교를 했다. 그 결과 두 책 모두 초고본이 아닐 가능성이 높고, 고령본에 비해 충남대본이 정확하게 어휘 등을 구사하고 정보를 전달하려는 성향이 강하며, 고령본은 감정을 드러내는 것에 관심이 있음을 확인했다. 또 각 책에서 의미가 불명확한 부분들이 상호 보완되는 지점을 확인했고, 필사가 중단된 지점 대비를 통해 이본 간 필사자의 관심사 차이에 대해서도 생각해보았다. 다음으로는 <유봉선전>이 <기연회봉록>의 이본이 아니라면 어떤 작품과 연관이 있을까에 대해 알아보았다. 작품 내용 등을 고려할 때 여성 영웅이 등장하는 <이대봉전> 계열 작품들과 관련이 있음을 확인하여 <이대봉전>, <이봉빈전>과 서사 단락을 비교하고 차이점과 공통을 제시함으로써 <유봉선전> 연구의 토대를 마련했다. 현전하는 <유봉선전> 이본은 둘 모두 낙장본이고, 서사 전개가 매끄러운 것도 아니라 잘 짜인 작품으로 보기는 어렵다. 그러나 20세기 초를 전후하여 이러한 형태의 작품들이 다수 창작되었다면, 습작 시도나 모방작의 창작을 하나의 문화 현상으로 이해하는 연구를 진행할 수 있을 것이다. 우선 본 연구는 개별 작품 <유봉선전>에 관한 기초 정보를 알리고, 19세기 말-20세기 초에 걸친 고전소설의 창작과 향유 정황을 이해할 수 있는 한 편의 작품을 더한 것에 의의를 두고자 한다.

영문 초록

This study was the subject of analysis of the classic novel Yubongseonjeon, which has not been discussed in detail. There was a mention of introducing Yubongseonjeon held in the Chungnam National University Library as a copy of Giyeonhoebongnok, but no specific research was conducted to compare it with Giyeonhoebongnok, perhaps because the Chungnam script Yubongseonjeon was a lost copy. Recently, I was additionally introduced to the Goryeong edition Yubongseonjeon, which has a record of being written by a 15-year-old girl, and I took this opportunity to review the contents of the Chungnam script and the Goryeong edition Yubongseonjeon. As a result, it was confirmed that this work was not related to the Giyeonhoebongnok. Although both the Chungnam script and the Goryeong script are not complete copies, they are expected to be able to make up for each other’s shortcomings so I worked on comparing the two books. As a result, it is highly likely that neither book is a draft, and that the Chungnam script is more inclined to accurately use vocabulary and convey information than the Goryeong script, and that the Goryeong script is interested in expressing emotions. It also confirmed that each book can complement the unclear parts of each book. Next, I thought about what kind of work can be considered to be related to Yubongseonjeon. As a result, I confirmed that Yubongseonjeon is related to the work of the Leedaebongjeon and its similar works, novels featuring female heroes, and briefly compared the narrative paragraphs of the works of the Yubongseonjeon, the Leedaebongjeon and Leebongbinjeon. In the case of the current Yubongseonjeon copy, both are jade copies, and the narrative development is not smooth, so it is difficult to see them as well-organized works. However, if a number of practice-level novels or imitative novels were created around the beginning of the 20th century, it will be possible to conduct research to understand the reality by considering them as a cultural phenomenon. Therefore, this study informs basic information on individual works Yubongseonjeon and understands the creation and enjoyment of classical novels from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. I would like to give significance to the fact that it has laid the foundation.
