국문 초록

좌식배구의 기원 및 발전과정, 그리고 우리나라 도입과 발전과정을 알아보고 그 과정에 대해 체육사적으로 연구 완성에 기여하고자 하였으며, 이 연구를 통해 도출된 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전쟁 장애인의 치유와 재활과정에서 영국의 스토크맨드빌 병원에서 생겨난 좌식배구는 네덜란드로 전해졌으며, 이후 발전을 거듭하며 좌식배구로 완성되어 네덜란드에서 최초의 좌식배구 대회가 개최된 이후 토론토 패럴림픽에서 시범종목으로 채택되었다. 이후 네덜란드 하를렘에서 첫 세계선수권대회가 개최되었으며, 아른펨 패럴림픽에서 정식종목으로 채택되어 지금에 이르고 있다. 좌식배구는 장애스포츠 국제 공인기구인 ISOD에 정식 채택되었고, 좌식배구 국제기구인 WOVD 을 결성했다. 약 100여년전에 전쟁 장애인의 치유와 재활을 위해 시작된 좌식배구는 자체 협의체를 만들고 국제공인 기구에 가맹하여 활동함으로써 다른 장애인스포츠 종목들의 발전과 함께 했다. 세계선수권대회를 통해 세계랭킹을 부여하고 이를 통해 패럴림픽 출전권을 부여함으로써 인기 장애인스포츠로 자리매김했다. 둘째, 우리나라 좌식배구는 88 서울 패럴림픽 유치를 계기로 도입되어, 각종 전국 장애인 배구대회 대회로 이어지며, 전국장애인체육대회의 정식 종목으로 채택되어 지금에 이르기까지 우리나라 좌식배구는 급속도로 성장했다. 또한, 장애인아시아경기대회와세계선수권대회 등에서 여러차례 상위권에 오르는 등 국제대회에 지속적으로 출전하며, 국제적위상을 높였다. 이렇게 높아진 국제적 위상으로 세계선수권대회를 성공적으로 유치할 수 있었고, 국제 좌식배구 발전사에 있어 3대 메이져대회를 모두 유치하여 성공적으로 개최하는 등 국제 장애인 좌식배구 활성화와 발전에 크게 기여하였다

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the origin and development of sitting volleyball, as well as its introduction and development in Korea, and to contribute to the completion of the study of the history of sports on the process. The conclusions drawn from this study are as follows. First, sitting volleyball, which originated at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in England during the healing and rehabilitation of war disabled people, was introduced to the Netherlands, and after further development, it was completed as sitting volleyball. After the first sitting volleyball competition was held in the Netherlands, it was adopted as a demonstration sport at the Toronto Paralympics. After that, the first World Championships were held in Haarlem, Netherlands, and it was adopted as an official sport at the Arnhem Paralympics, where it continues to this day. Sitting volleyball was officially adopted by ISOD, the international organization for disabled sports, and WOVD, the international organization for sitting volleyball, was formed. Sitting volleyball, which began about 100 years ago for the healing and rehabilitation of war disabled people, developed along with other disabled sports by forming its own council and joining internationally recognized organizations. By granting world rankings through the World Championships and thus granting Paralympic qualification, it has established itself as a popular disabled sport. Second, sitting volleyball in Korea was introduced after the 1988 Seoul Paralympic Games, and continued with various national disabled volleyball competitions, and was adopted as an official event of the National Disabled Sports Games, and has grown rapidly up to the present. In addition, it has continuously participated in international competitions, such as the Asian Para Games and the World Championships, and has raised its international status. With this increased international status, it was possible to successfully host the World Championships, and has greatly contributed to the revitalization and development of international disabled sitting volleyball by successfully hosting and hosting all three major competitions in the history of international sitting volleyball development.
